You don't want shingles anyway from what I hear. But the doctor said the shot was not very effective so he did't recommend it.
 
I haven't gotten back home yet, have a work trip this week so I won't be going home till Friday. Had a friend check on my place, no damage inside or outside fortunately! However as of last night still had no power, hopefully I'll have it back before I get home Friday!
 
Pretty much a non event in the Charlotte area. The only thing noticeable besides a little wind and a little rain was that traffic was considerably lighter on my commute the past two days. I did like that.
 
No trees down and we still have power. No Wi-Fi or TV, though.

No big deal for our neighborhood.

We did sleep downstairs on the couch last night just as a precaution. Our bedroom is closest to the tallest trees in the area with no protection. Trees have caused a few deaths here. Now I can get out and take a look at the roots today.
 
Has anyone driven back south from GA?

My daughter wants to get home, but is unsure of the gas situation down to Ft. Lauderdale with so much power out.

Oh, and essentially just a rain event in our section of N GA. Some wind, but nothing to speak of.

Our lights started flickering when the winds picked up the day before and went out at 4:00 yesterday and stayed out until 4:00 today. It really wasn't to bad since we never lost water and have a gas water heater.

unless she has a pressing need to get, home, I wouldn't bother. A friend has been driving home from Atlanta at 20 mph for hours....
 
All electric home, we lost power around 3:30pm yesterday and finally got it back around 4:30pm today. Breakfast and lunch were at Cracker Barrel. I've got a limb in my yard that doesn't look like it came from any of my trees. Drove through the neighborhood, lots of trees or parts of trees down. Saw one huge tree that came down and missed the corner of the house by maybe two feet. Lucky folks. The day was the sound of chain saws and generators. What we had in the freezer survived and it looks like most everything in the fridge did too. We left the doors closed for the duration. Interestingly enough as late as this afternoon there was still warm water. Damn water heater is really insulated.

I have a friend who left Atlanta to drive to Daytona Beach today at 10:30am, as of 7:45pm eastern time she just got passed the Florida/Georgia border

My family also just returned home to just north of the Lauderdale area said there's no gas

Gas is a problem in ALL parts of Florida at this time. Tell her to use the app "gasbuddy" it will tell you if gas is available in all Gas stations so you can plan your trip. Make sure you fill up before crossing the Georgia/ Florida border.
 
I flew some folks back to FLL tonight. On the flight back to Atlanta, the traffic on I-95 South was amazing. It was hard to tell from our altitude, but it didn't look like it was moving to me.
 
I drove from Charlotte to NW Orlando (Apopka). It only took 16 hours. Nothing like seeing South Carolina at 20mph. Gas was available, but Georgia had a night curfew for some counties, so they forced everyone to stay on I-95 and had the exits on the last 30 miles blocked.
 
Finally made it back home after the storm and working this week. got electricity and no damage!

Also flew my bird non-stop from Memphis - Daytona, that was now the longest non-stop leg I've done in my 182! Was pretty cool, but boy was I glad to stand up after that!

590nm, 4.7 on the hobbs. I had a bit stronger headwind then planned so that added some time, and I had to do some deviating for weather so that added a couple minutes as well.
 
My daughter began her trip home yesterday, first stop, Tallahassee.

Plan is to drive the rest of the way today. Has an extra 10gals of gas strapped to the top of her car.

It ended up being a nice visit, so at least something good came from Irma.
 
Hope her place is okay, Eddie. Did she make it home yet?

We just got power back late yesterday afternoon. Our area doesn't seem to have much damage, but power restoration took a long time. I suspect crews and resources were being prioritized for south Florida.

I got off pretty easy. Lost a few screen panels over the pool and had some branches down in the yard; all very minor. Being without power was annoying, but I have a generator that I wired in through our barn, which gets the noise away from the house. I couldn't run the AC or water heater, but at least I had lights, fans, water, TV, and could keep the freezer and refrigerator going.

Lost a couple of days from work, though, and we're working on a sizable proposal which is due 9/28, so it's a bit of a scramble to catch up.
 
She made it home late this afternoon.

She said minor damage to some neighbors awnings and the like at her apartment. At a condo in Pompano she leases, she heard there was a broken window.

Glad you fared well. As an aside, it's one reason having an RV is nice - an excuse to boondock!

Well, I guess Foreflight prices are not correct at this time. KZPH, X35, and X60 are consistently the cheapest in my area. I think you will have to be lucky to find someplace that has not raised their prices yet to beat the best of those three.
