Reading here and there, a route on Garmin CoPilot on the iPad can be uploaded to the 175 using both units bluetooth. Does Foreflight work the same or do I need the Flightstream box? If so, I think it's cheaper to learn CoPilot.

I found this thread that makes it sound like Foreflight will work fine with it.

I’ve only found two reasons to renew my Garmin Pilot subscription. Database Concierge if you have a panel that supports it, and the automatic upgrade from the basic level to pro level (whatever Garmin Pilot calls them) if you have a database combo subscription.

Yes, ForeFlight and the 175 work flawlessly via Bluetooth. No need for Flightstream.

Yes, ForeFlight will transfer flight plans between it and the GPS175 natively. There’s a chart from ForeFlight here.

Basically, ForeFlight has all the interactivity Garmin Pilot (not “CoPilot”) has with Garmin systems except the Database Concierge to update the avionics database and the ability to download flight data.

Saw that, but the directions are somewhere else. Gotta dig around for the details in the Pilot's Guide, pg 2-15-17.

If it works like other Garmin units (I have connections to more than a dozen of them; I can't even remember the airplanes for some of them :D), once you are on this page (Menu > System > Connext Setup) , it should appear as a potential connection in the iOS Bluetooth list. No?

Only have used FF with 175 but it works beautifully. Connext is what they call the built in transfer program. Plans from GPS -> FF are automatically transferred once you agree to the first one on the iPad; plans/routes from FF -> GPS are first previewed on GPS and then either stored or activated. Safety/regulatory thing presumably in that direction.

Database Concierge seems to work fine with Garmin Pilot, but I always take the card out and home to update it since I've been married to FF for 15 years and am not planning on switching.
