iOS 12 - Update!

The one time I updated before the “all clear” and FF and the horizon app are useless on the phone (6) and keep crashing or won’t open at all. Fortunately, FF seems to be working ok on my iPad (Air 2). However, FF isn’t the only thing not working properly on my phone. Facebook keeps crashing, this forum doesn’t seem to be working right either (mostly when trying to write a post....keyboard and actually posting).

My iPhone 6s is 9.3.5. Maybe it's time I updated. I think I'll wait for referenced 12.0.1.

I updated to iOS12 on my Ipad Mini 4 and I don't see any issues with FF, but I use it strictly as an EFB, not using it for navigation.

Been communicating with the engineering team at APPAREO. Apparently I’m the first person that they’ve talked with directly that has had issues. Hopefully they’ll come up with a patch soon to fix the app.

Unfortunately, I upgraded to iOS 12 without thinking and now FF is completely unreliable on my iPad mini. Foreflight requested crash logs and exact tap sequences as they are still trying to figure out what is happening. Hard to believe, but it appears they still have zero clue as to what is causing the crashes...yikes! Hopefully they get it figured out soon.

I feel the same about those when someone feels the need to decrease the sum of human knowledge with politico/religious "mine is great; therefore yours sucks" BS. (My all time favorite is still a pitch/power discussion where I described a event in one of those ways and someone insisted I didn't because I would be dead if I did )

With iOS 12 on my iPhone 6, FF wouldn’t open any maps in-flight (works fine on the ground). As mentioned earlier, I can’t even get the Horizon Stratus App to open.

I had Foreflight for years. It isn’t like my opinion of it is unqualified.

So far <knocking on wood> FF works fine, on the ground and in the air, on my iPhone 6 with iOS 12. Go figure. But I'll wait for the 'all-clear' before updating the iPad Mini 4.

Not aviation related, but IOS 12 ate about half of the programs on my iPad Pro. I have an appointment with the Genius Bar on Thursday because the online support lady could not fix it.

Apps, not programs. I'd restore to factory settings, do the iOS update, and reload the apps. Really simple if you have your backup in the cloud.

What iOS version were you on before? I know there were some changes to 11 that made a lot of older apps incompatible, so if the developers hadn’t updated it in years, it wouldn’t work any more. I think 12 might have had some additional mods, but not as many for sure.

Foreflight is about to release 10.4.1 which fixes the mini 4 and other early Apple models I hear. Yea!!

Nothing in the update description or the ForeFlight blog indicates it corrects the iOS 12 issue and, so far, I have not seen an "all clear" email.

My subscription runs out in a few weeks. No plans to renew unless it's resolved.

Haven’t had the opportunity try FF again (wouldn’t open maps in flight with iOS 12); however, the horizon Stratus app is still DOA. Went ahead and downloaded iOS 12.0.1 last night too, but still inop. A manager at APPAREO has verified this on his iPad mini. My issues are on an iPhone 6.

A little late, but my iPad mini is back to 100% running Foreflight since the latest update.
