En-Route
But it's touch and go for a bit, yet. Y'all may have heard about the ice storm which battered the Northeast. On December 11 a falling branch took out the arm on my HughesNet satellite system(and slightly altered the shape of the dish). A few days later we received 14" of white stuff. Only as of yesterday, December 30, could HughesNet Service get here to get me back on-the-air. After he left I answered a few of the 542 e-mails in the queue; shut the system down, and went to Wiscasset to pay the property tax on my hangar.
When I came back and re-booted, no connection to the Internet. One hour with someone in India; tests and more tests; and he said he'll "pass it up to a higher authority and you'll be called within two days." #@%*&#@$%@#.
I called the service man who'd been here; and he said he won't be able to get back until around 4:00 Friday afternoon. "But keep trying; you might be able to get "on" for short periods until I replace the unit pointed at your dish."
After about five hours I've been able to get through to a few sites and here. But IMAGINE what's been happening everywhere while OFF since
December 11 --- and right now the response time is verrrrrryyy slow. And falling branches aren't covered by HughesNet warranty service.
So, a belated Merry / Happy to all, and HAPPY NEW YEAR. I haven't flown since October 16, there having been such continuing rain/fog/wind conditions.
