Rather than hijack Mr. 6PC's thread...

. Maybe you will laugh. Maybe you will put me on ignore. Maybe you will buy my sink. I have no way of knowing how you will respond.l

This points out a serious issue with POA. You have no way of knowing who has put you on ignore. Back in the olden days on USENET people would usually at list give you a "plonk" - but that does not seem to be the case here. So, I started this thread for everyone who has me in their ignore list.

If you have me on ignore - please reply to this post so I know.

I will put you on mine if you add me to yours. :goofy:

Seriously, I've never understood "ignoring" someone here. It's not like Usenet, where a troll could post a hundred posts per day, in (what amounted to) the same thread, totally overwhelming the system.

Here, annoying posts are easily and quickly skipped over.

I like to just assume everyone has me on ignore. Then when I see a response I go "Yea!" in my head real loud. Well not real loud. It's in my head. you can't hear that.

Worth pointing out that if someone had you on ignore, they wont see this thread and as such will not respond to you.

I don't understand the point of the ignore feature on forums. I guess for people incapable of scrolling past a post they don't want to read?

I've always thought the whole ignore concept was weak.

No one is on mine, infact if I was so easily offended to the point I couldn't even handle reading someone's posts, Id probably go see a shrink.

I mean if you can't handle even scrolling past someone's post, or reading different points of view maybe the Internet & outside world isn't for you :dunno:

If you feel the need to put people on ignore you are in the wrong online community and should find one more suited to your tender nature.

I haven;t ignored anyone but I started putting the troll threads on ignore as I lack the self control to keep from getting involved.

Interesting.

I just looked and have five members on ignore.

One, SomeTexan is redundant, since he soon after got banned. Another I have not heard from in ages regardless. The other three I see quoted on occasion - and nearly always am reminded of why I chose to ignore them.

The analogy is a party. Some idiot says you should be lined up and shot, then wishes harm on partygoer's children and finally calls for all cops to be killed.

At a party, you can either disengage and ignore or leave the party. To confront them, which is what they're going for, would spoil the party.

On a forum, you can either ignore or leave the forum.

Anyway, it's rarely occurred to me to list my ignores, though I think I recommended others ignore SomeTexan as either an obvious troll or a seriously disturbed individual.

How come I cant find any posts from SomeTexan? I don't see a profile for him either...

I didn't even know there was such a thing! Well I ignored all of you just now, but it doesn't mean I don't love you...

I'm just not in love with you... if that makes sense.

ewww, bad karma for that! That post put me at 666... AHH :hairraise:

Ok, I unignored all of you... As you were. B)

I don't have anyone on ignore. I can't say as there is anyone here who I've even thought about ignoring. To me, it's not worth it. There are some posts I look at and may not agree with, but just shake my head and move on.

The one thing I do not like are when some of these things here get personal between members. The normal disagreements don't bother me...it shows many sides and opinions of some important topics. I just wish some could refrain from attacking each other.

I don't have anyone on my ignore list, but there are a few that I just don't read their posts. I like to have the option to read, or not to read.

For the most part, but for some it is nice to not even have to see their crap in the first place. I have three or four on my ignore list, but they are people that only ever trash talk and have never contributed anything of value. I think only one is actually still active and not banned.

When someone is on ignore, you still see that they posted, and have the option of seeing the post.

Sometimes it's tempting, but I virtually always remember why they ended up on my ignore list in the first place.

I guess what earns someone a place there, it's general meanness and vitriol that got them there, combined with no real constructive content to most of their posts. Bear in mind, only 2 or 3 active members have earned that spot!

I can't see anyone on this thread, you must all be on my ignore list....:wink2:

Last I looked, he had a profile, but it showed as banned.

Just looked now, and he's not in the Member List.

Good riddance!

Yeah, I think his whole pro kill cops post got him booted. But I did my homework, that guy was so full of S&$T and lies. Everything he said was BS!!!!

I have five or six people on ignore. I should probably add two or three more. There are people whose posts I'm better off not reading and by having them on ignore it just makes life easier. Now that I'm thinking about it I'll go ahead and add a couple of people right now.

So the ignore function doesn't actually block them/you from each other?

It looks like this:

The "View Post" on the right will bring it up, if one is so inclined.

Now, no one needs to play detective!

Let's turn this around, is it possible to see if you are on anyone's ignore list?

It's kind of like a traffic accident. You don't mean to look but you can't help yourself. But really, with all the multi quotes, it's not even worth scrolling over Bryan's posts.

How come I cant find any posts from SomeTexan? I don't see a profile for him either...
His posts show up as banned for the id. If you knew how he signed his posts, you might be able to find him. Fairly active in the spinzone.
Edit: It would appear all of SomeTexan's posts were scrubbed clean. All you will find are the occasionally quoted text. As I recall, to remove the quoted text from a post would require editing said post which the MC thought was a questionable act.

Bigger question is why does Mrs 6PC have you on here ignore list :)

I tried to ignore this post, but it didn't work. Why put anyone on your ignore list,it's entertainment.

I don't willingly go find a public forum on the Internet to then turn on ignore buttons. Those who do seem quite confused about where and what PoA is.
