This weekend I flew with one of my students in his Turbo 182 to Fargo, ND to see George Strait in Concert with his wife for his wedding anniversary. The flight up there was very smooth and the Concert was amazing!!!

The weather the night before forecast clear skies for our time of departure back home but of course we didn't get out at that proposed time. (You know how mornings go!). We called the flight briefer and she informed us that "weather was beautiful in Fargo and in Lincoln but VFR not recommended enroute" Well..now is as good of time as any to show what IFR looks like! His airplane was fully equipped with a G1000 and autopilot so it'd be a breeze. Plus, the weather was supposed to get worse and its possible we could be stuck another day. Sure enough, we took off and within 10 minutes we were heading into the soup. He thought that was the absolute coolest thing to see the clouds rush by and a "weird feeling" as he put it to not be able to see anything outside. I'll admit it...I was having fun too! I video taped a lot of it and thought I'd share.

Nice.
Did you do something to get that prop motion? Seems like mine have those funky horizontal lines which drive me nuts. Type of camera?

Nice video! Always neat skimming along in the tops!

At 0:51 it looks as if he has boots on that 182. Is that just his paint job? A Turbo 182 with boots and a G1000 would be sweet! Now, if it were FIKI certified... :)

Just curious, what was the altitude and OAT?

Grant, they painted the leading edge black to help see ice. It was a great idea in my opinion!

Neat idea I wonder if it would also help dissipate minor frost and ice just a tiney bit sooner due to the black color absorbing heat better than light surfaces.
