Got slammed all over the place today enroute to St Marys once I hit the PA border. Worse on my way back at 6500, I gave my headliner a workout with my headset. Eating lunch at FKL before heading back. Hopefully it goes away once it gets flatter.

Don't be a Michigan idiot. The weather is tough because of the high pressure system dominating our weather (bringing clear skies with it). Even in Ohio there were pireps of turbulence up to 8500 feet. I got out of most, but certainly not all. It has little to do with Pennsylvania.

That's The Ohio.

Ed may be a MI Idiot, but the weather also has something to do with Pennsylvania.

A quick glance at any topographical map will show the successive wasboard ridges that lay between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. These conspire to produce regular waves of rolling air that have to be expereinced to be beleived.

Midwesterners laugh when we say winds 15G25 is no fun. It's not, since the surface isn't flat as a pool table.

It was baby butt smooth over michigan and ohio at 7500. Landed at OYM about 1pm. Just about to settle up my tab at FKL. I think I may just zip out over lake erie on the way home to avoid any more of this. I just hope I have enough power around toledo to overcome the pull I will be feeling. What pull you ask? The one generated by ohio, because it sucks.

I fly over Lake Erie on a regular basis and like it that way.

well there were several 1000ish kilometer glider flights yesterday in the NE. the ridge must be working

Are you flying now? Or was this yesterday?

Actually those ridges have a purpose and thats to keep Pittsburg Fans from flocking to Citizens Bank Park in Philly and getting Tasered.

Why would any self-respecting Pittsburger be caught dead in a Filthadelphia baseball park??

Heck -- we don't even go to the baseball park we have!

I think you just answered your own question. Your baseball team stinks, ours doesn't!

:D

While they are behind in the series, the Flyers are still in the playoffs.

One name. Rothlisberger?

We'll see.

Does he play for the 2009 Stanley Cup Champion Penguins?

Though, last time I checked, the Beagles were no paragons of civility.

Did you know during part of WWII they played together as the Steagles. They combined the teams due to so many men being off to war.

Exactly. That is code for "Get ready to get your azz knocked around the sky but good!"

Should have stopped in Erie -- more to do.

I flew to work this AM. Air was slightly disturbed at 2500' MSL. Unusual for that early in the morning.

Twas a lifeline flight LAN-> OYM. Got food for me and the plane at FKL. 10 cent discount per gallon on fuel if you show them a restaurant receipt. So I saved 5.54 on my fuel bill. Was like getting my meal almost 1/2 off. Good food too.

And as expected, a couple bumps departing FKL until the terrain flattened out, and then it was smooth nearly the whole way home at 6,500. About 5.0 or so logged today.

Still haven't been denied a Bravo clearance, either. :)

Well, the Flyers just took game 4. 4 - 0. Still behind in the series, but its 3 - 2 now and back to Philly. Yeah, we'll see.

Yeah, what have the Eagles or an Eagle done?

I really, really hope the B's take care of the Flyers before Friday. Game 7 is tentatively scheduled for Friday, and I would hate to be in Philly when the mighty B's triumph. Andrew would knife me or something.

Cheers,

-Andrew

You'll have some backup but let's hope it doesn't come to that!!!

Did you see the Broad Street Bullies special on HBO? I had forgotten how they would beat up teams and all the bench clearing brawls. While I like today's finesse game much better, the roller derby like shennanigans were pretty fun to watch as a youngster.

Still, its a pretty sad state of affairs when you have to go back to the mid 70's for the last Stanley Cup. Not, that they haven't had their chances in the finals.

GO Flyers!

Posts #15-22 and 24-32 also contribute to the reasons why I hate PA.

Yeah, I never get tired of watching stuff like that. Good times.

I used to babysit for Joe Watson. He had some great pictures around the house of the post-Cup celebration. A lot of toothless Canucks doing what they do best -- drinking booze, and lots of it.

Philly Sports was good when Barkley and Kruk were in town.

A co-worker of mine is a childhood friend of Kruk's. Supposedly he is a GAS to toss a few back with. Good old WV boys...

Cheers,

-Andrew

A woman criticized John Kruk for chewing tobacco and told him as an Athlete he is a role model for kids.

John Kruk's repsonse: " Mamme I'm not an Athlete I'm a baseball player" Still funny!
