I hate PA.

So, Dan, where are the Pittsburgh Penguins right now and where are the Flyers?

Roll your eyes all you want smart guy. :D

Ed, that that was Monday, right? I was flying over MI (VLL-RMY-VLL) in the early afternoon and got slammed all over the place too. I was trying to cruise my engine hard for break-in and had to throttle back quite a few times. I didn't go above 5500, but at all altitudes below, it was rough. So it wasn't just PA.

Big Ben suspended. Cindy Crosby home with Mommy. The Pirates -- they're playing AA ball these days, aren't they??

Grim times for the city of champions.

Crosby? Class??? He's a whiner and a cry baby. Its hard to even watch him. Please.

Sports radio knuckleheadness.

You'd take him in a trade for harntnell or richards or any of the other Failures.

It was Monday. I left Lansing at about 10am or so, passenger needed to stop at Sandusky, OH, and as soon as we got a little east of the hills in PA, it was a whitewater rafting trip. Stopped in Franklin, PA on the way back, and from St Mary's to Franklin I got slammed into the headliner a couple times. Franklin is just on the edge of the terrain, and at 6500 it was smooth until I got to MI, where the sun was creating some lift off the plowed fields. But even that wasn't even reportable, and only had a bump or two. Maybe below 5500 you were getting all thermals. I do notice the thermals off the fields tend to stop in the 6-8k range.

I'd rather have Malkin.

And I'd take Richards any day. Cindy talks too much 4hit. Hockey players are, in general, the classiest, most humble of all professional athletes. There are exceptions. Cindy isn't as bad as, say, a Matt Barnaby, but he's a whiner and a dive artist. Tremendously skilled, but a long way from Lemieux in the class department. Ahhh, maybe he'll learn as he grows up.

We were discussing this the other day at home when the Ben story broke. We figured that hockey requires so much time and parental investment that the players have more sense of debt -- or at least gratitude -- to othose that have supported them. Plus, they play so many games and the season is so long there's not alot of time to mess around.

Meanwhile, some football players are coddled and treated as superior beings as soon as they tip 250 on the scale.

Our son played hockey one season. After all the 0600 Saturday AM practices and the huge equipment investment, we can only marvel at the parents of those who stick with it!!

If you were only going over plowed fields, then it wouldn't have been TOO bad -- it wasn't smooth even around noon but it was much worse over highways and congested areas. And sure, of course it was thermals, but we've had some pretty bumpy air this year caused by uneven surface heating. When he flew my Cardinal over here from NY last month, my seller mentioned that even with the mountains over there, it was tame compared with flying over the Detroit suburbs.

Plus, most of them are Canadians and all joking aside, Canadians in general are a pretty humble lot. Every time I see a hockey player interviewed, I think about what it would sound like if it were a basketball or football player responding to the questions. A lot more "I" and "Me" and a lot less "we."

Well....

My mother's family is all Canadian. Generally speaking, they put a bit more stock in manners and politeness than Americans.

But Russian players such as Gonchar and Malkin and Ponikowraski are also fairly humble.

Ovechkin? Not so much...

As athletes go, I think hockey players seem to be the most down to earth and approachable.
