That's cool. How do you like it?

Fun plane. Flys a little like a jet and a little like a turbo prop. Long trips say East coast to the midwest we cruise 40.0 or 41.0 depending on direction speed. Optimal altitude for speed is around 28.0 to 31.0 again depending on temp and loading on a slow day we will see about 385-390kts true ..and on a good day light load, low temps we will see around 400kts true. The best speed I have seen is 408kts true in cruise. Plane is placard at .70 on the max indicated speed. Usually see that in the decent between 41 and 31.0. Its not a plane to land in 3,500 foot of runway on a hot day. On approach usually hit the outer marker at about 180kts then slow to 150kts until 500agl feet ..at this point we transition to full flaps and about 120 to 125kts depending on weight until were over the numbers. Take off and landing as with any aircraft is the most demanding part of flying the Piaggio. It is not very forgiving of an inattentive pilot during this phase of flight, but handles really nice in all phases of flight. As the story goes the funnest flying is bumming a ride with the local guys at the airport. I have a freind that has a pocket full of type ratings and flys one of the fastest civilian jets made....he called me a while back on cloud nine talking about how he had just been up banging around in a cessna 172....just him and the plane. So I guess it goes to show you as long as it has a wing and takes you up in the air its all good. :D

Not too many, but not too bad for a low time rotor head.

i believe that when you perform the takeoff, cruise, and landing, it is not considered a ride. particularly when it get signed off in your logbook (of course hidden so you can still claim all tailwheel time) as dual received.

Compared to flying the 140, takeoff, cruise, and landing in a 172 is just a ride. At least I think that's his point.

Time for updates...

Add Joe's T-28, a SR-22, Aztec, and Michael's M20C for me.
For me, add King Air 90 and 200, Diamond DA-42, Adam A500, Epic Victory jet, Epic LT, Mitsubishi MU2.

Still waiting for my buddy to let me fly his Meridian.

Add to sims: HondaJet and DiamondJet.

I guess after 2 years, now's a good time to see what's changed. 2 years ago, I was at 4 (C172, PA28-180, PA28R-200, M20C), now I'm up to a few more:

Cessna 172 (R, SP, N, P, I, and M models)
Cessna 177
Cessna 182
Piper Arrow
Piper Cherokee 180
Diamond Katana
Diamond Evolution
Mooney M20C

And from Gastons:
Piper Cub
Beech Bonanza
Cessna 195 (192 1/2)

I guess I've added quite a few!

Good question.

C172 (multiple variants, all count as one for me);
Warrior
Archer
152
182
Diamond DA20-C1
Grumman AA1C

Cessna C177RG
Beech Bonanza (F33)
Beech Bonanza (A36)
Beech Debonair (C33)
Cessna T210
Boeing 737-300 (Full Motion Simulator) (Can't log it, but I "flew" it and it did not "crash" once)
Piper Comanche 250

Hmm, more than I expected to have flown. Wish list includes:

Beech D17 (Staggerwing) (hubba hubba!)
Spartan Executive (just love the looks of them, aluminum art in motion)
Bellancas of all sorts (Cruisair and Viking... Dave?)
Pilatus PC12
Extra 300
Lancair IV-P (I should own one of these, don't you think?)
Mooneys (*really* think I should own one of these)
Comanche C (Carol T...?)

Aww hell, I want to fly 'em all.

Updated...

...and ain't it fun to see where we have gone in the last couple of years!

Cessna 195
Citabria
Bellanca Super Viking

Those three, thanks to PoA members, thanky very much.

V35TC Bonanza (almost bought that one...)
V35A Bonanza (of course)
737-700 Sim (thanks SWA)
Grob 103 (*that* was fun)
Could have flown an IAR823, but Tommy got the right seat on that flight... big grin!

For me, add King Air 90 and 200, Diamond DA-42, Adam A500, Epic Victory jet, Epic LT, Mitsubishi MU2.

Still waiting for my buddy to let me fly his Meridian.

So go ahead, put me in your novel. I'll still say it; other pilots hate you.:D

Two months ago I thought I had a chance to get some right seat in a MU-2. It was a pipe dream. Still, I have hope.

That's all that I can come up with off the top of my head. 27 real, 8 sims. I'll try to remember to check the logbook when I update it this weekend.

I still want Ken's Job.

And John, when'd you get to fly the Starship?!? That's one plane I've always wanted to fly!

matt, how did you fit in a 152?

I didn't, actually.

Kip and I tried to take 60SX for my first lesson with him (second lesson ever) and it took me the better part of an hour to close the door, then when we had to cross-control for the first landing, my knee got in the way, so we switched over to 999 and stuck with it for most of my training. I have a grand total of .8 in the 152, and it was probably the least comfortable .8 of my life.

Uh, the 2-32 was a Freudian typo. I meant 2-33 (aka, "The Roach"). Sorry.

Well, a number, but while I dig them out, the best logged time I have was in a Lancair IV.

Ohhh, so fast.

Holy necropost! I think I can only add a C-210 and Beech Sierra to my list. I flew in Ed's Cherokee last weekend, but didn't touch the controls; it was just once around the pattern.

Oh, add Diana's Citabria and Steve's IAR, too! (thanks, guys!)

Oh, and John Stevens' post reminded me that I did a demo ride in an SR-20, too. Man that comes in with a flat sight picture!

C-182 (2009 with all the bells and whistles)
C-207 (NA and turbo)
C-206
C-208
Schweitzer S-2
Schemp Hirth Discus

I have six different planes listed in my log book but some are from the right seat, not sure if that counts.

If the wx would have been better at 6Y9 it could have been seven or eight by the time I left.

But when I was sitting in the left seat? Four. A Tecnam Sierra, a 172, a 152, and a different 172 - all flying lessons. The only one I've gone solo in is the 152 but next week I'm getting the 172 checkout.
