It's sad that there are those who feel they must constantly provoke.

My bet is the ban hammer doesn't come down, it is very very rare and typically not until after good content providers, or rational people who just came to learn something, get run off. Oh well, every forum eventually goes this way, and a decade isn't a bad run. It's really indicative of the general issue that causes all the problems in society, the bullies get their way because good men do nothing. The MC just does not have the strength, will, or time, to control the situation, and it has pretty much gotten past the point of being controlled. I don't blame them really, it's thankless and difficult duty for which they don't get paid. However at this point it really has gotten out of hand as has most things in our society. Our culture isn't dialed in to resolve disputes, it's all about 'winning at all costs', everything we do is that way.

MCing isn't that hard. I built up one of the more successful GA forums on the internet then sold out for $$$. It was easy $ and I shouldn't have sold.

No, it doesn't. I was the sole admin for 4 years. I was much less anal retentive than the folks here. My philosophy was "You're posting on the internet, what do you expect?" My Spin Zone policy was "Opt out if you're an easily offended *****" :rofl:

Right, but when you do that, then the bullies eventually take over as they are here. As far as clicks and income, it's not a problem since it generates a lot of activity, but the quality is pretty low except for entertainment value.

No worries, but then you just stand back and don't use the ban hammer at all. Eventually it turns into an unmoderated Usenet group type form sans the spam, which is basically what this has become.

Doesn't matter much anyway, the ability to change things is non existent. You can't force people to change their behavior, they have to decide to on their own, and even when you ban one *******, there will always be another to replace them. If there is one thing the Internet has shown us is how many *******s there are.

I don't either but I'd wager a particularly nasty and personal flame war in tha SZ. People forget that for those who avoid the divisive bickering, it makes no sense.

I saw an old TIME magazine cover predicting the new (1970's version) ice age, and thought the same thing. However, I do remember DUCK and Cover, kneeling under desks at school, and standing against the wall, with our arms covering our heads practicing for a nuclear explosion.

Well, we've been trying for over a decade and so far have failed pretty misersably to get any positive result. The only thing we'll manage is the death of a species for our arrogance and hatred.

Some comic relief:

An old WWII ace was giving a presentation at a retirement village.......

"We were flying in formation when we saw Fokkers all over the place, there were Fokkers above us and below us and..."

A little old lady was appalled at the gentleman's language and the continued use of the word Fokker. An aide came to the mic and said ladies do not be alarmed.... a Fokker is a type of airplane.

The mic is handed back to the elderly gentleman and he looks at the aide and says "Sonny, you obviously don't know what your talking about, these Fokkers were Messerschmidts"

:lol: I have many times, nobody wants solutions, they want to complain and do things the same way. Nobody wants to take the financial risk it will take to change, regardless if that risk will put them in a better position because it puts everybody in a better position. We fear change more than anything.

I would think one would want to disassociate from such a person.
