How long before the ban hammer comes down?

Remember, this is the fellow who claimed that if he ever committed suicide by intentionally crashing a plane, he would be doing his passengers a favor.

I would think one would want to disassociate from such a person.

I know I did.

Do you think death is a bad thing?

Only if you enjoy life.

What makes you think life ends with death? We don't even know what life is, we just barely understand being alive much less life itself. All we are physically is an existential packet of information that forms an organism that converts matter into thought.

I don't think that isolating people who hold antisocial views is likely to improve matters.

 I have many times, nobody wants solutions, they want to complain and do things the same way. Nobody wants to take the financial risk it will take to change, regardless if that risk will put them in a better position because it puts everybody in a better position. We fear change more than anything.
Some of those solutions were thought-provoking, but have issues that make them non-competitive compared to other technologies.

For example, hydrogen fuel storage has issues with hydrogen having low energy density. The best test vehicles today match the range of, but do not have the payload (pay volume?) of a similarly sized production electric vehicle. The tanks take up much of the space. People are looking at chemical ways of working around the problems (sorption technologies) to improve the energy density of hydrogen. The only advantage hydrogen currently has is that it can be refueled faster than recharging a battery, but people are improving that problem as well. The use of hydrogen for energy storage isn't original to you.

The one thing I saw that you posited made sense was the use of thorium as a nuclear fuel and people are working on it. The difficulty with changing to thorium may be as simple as there are a limited number of "customers" such that the production overhead for a new line is cost prohibitive, but the R&D for other nuclear fuels is already done and it is simpler and cheaper to set up a "production line" for those. Or maybe thorium as a fuel has other problems :dunno: Again, not an original solution as people have been working on this for some time.

The "use submarines to power the country idea"....not enough power in those IIRC. Read Footfall by Pournell, the idea of using a submarine to generate electricity locally was mentioned in that bit of science fiction more than 10 years ago.
