How I Wish I Got To 1,500 Hours

Admittedly, I am failing terribly in networking attempts. I have gone to several job fairs now and will continue to go to more. I missed a great opportunity to go to OSH because I was busy working.

I know I have got to do better and more.

The best advice I've ever received on networking, or looking for a job, is to not ask about a job! Instead, ask people for advice about your career. Unless someone is actually actively looking for an employee, they probably get a lot of people asking them for jobs, so you're just one of many. But everybody likes to give advice to someone who is eager to learn, and that just might lead to a job in the end.

For older folks “networking” is hanging out during spare time at the airport, hangars, using multiple CFIs for whatever, fly-ins, and going to local EAA meetings. Somebody knows someone. It’s not without time investment though.

This is one edge many who don’t follow the CFI route miss out on, especially those who pursue the -II and MEI. Every flight is an opportunity to leave an impression on someone what knows other people.

Yes. I have sent applications to everyone i could through the airlines apps and have been updating it every month. I haven't gotten any response back unfortunately.
FWIW, one of the companies I spoke to at OSH - Sorry, don't remember which but it was one that is on airlineapps - told me to apply via their own website, as even though their system does interface with airlineapps it weights direct apps higher.

Another told me that I should always email them after I update airlineapps because airlineapps does not automatically push through updates. That, combined with some auto-rejections, leads me to suggest that you not attempt to apply anywhere that you don't have EVERY SINGLE ONE of their minimums done.

Thought I give an update on my application. In Feb, I interviewed with a regional. 2 weeks later in March I got the CJO. Supposed to start class in May.

at time of interview:
-1700 hrs total
-400 hrs as contract pilot under part 91
-235 instrument
-200 night
-1450 PIC
-57 multi
-ATP/CTP and written complete
- 1 letter of recommendation
-used the airlineinterview site and studied hard for a month to prep for the interview

Hope everyone else has had good news too.

Best reason to update a thread ever. Congrats! I'm positive you earned it.

First, Ahmad, congratulations!

Second, I commend your persistence, especially with regard to your SI issue, and thank you for updating the medical thread to reconnect the dots for us.

Keep us posted!

Become a cfi, fly your 172 everywhere, get glider & tailwheel time, have fun. All will be good :) and I just noticed you got the CJO!

I got my ATP on my dime mostly. I enjoy cross country flying, also liked to do IFR approaches at unfamiliar airports. I had a 172 then an arrow for my cpl then a beech travelair for multi time . Near the end I flew right seat in a Cheyanne turbo prop.
