I had a good thought this morning. My iPhone 5, in its lifeproof, is already nearing the limits of my pant pockets. When I finally upgrade to the 6/6+ early next year, how am I going to carry the darn thing?

One option is a belt clip: +500 for my nerd fashion

Without a case: Last resort as I'll drop it within minutes

Hand carry it: I would have to spend most of my day without my phone. :yikes:

Get an assistant to carry it around for you.

The new iPhone is tiny compared to the HTC Max and the new Samsung Note 4, the old Note 3 is the same size as your new 'giant' phone. People carry it and can't wait to get even bigger.

If you think you can't handle 5.5 inches, then don't get one.

Evolution usually responds to increase the threatened item in response to the increase of the related thing.

So if the current trend continues, in about 10 years, we will have done away with shirts and trousers all together and just wear pockets.

So what's so bad about a belt clip? My Otter Box belt clip broke about a month ago and I have been having to carry my iPhone 5 in my pocket and I hate it. My replacement belt clip came yesterday and I'm so glad to have it back. The belt clip is so much more convenient and easier to access plus it also props my phone up on the table for watching videos.

I had a Samsung Galaxy Note 1 which is bigger. It still fits in your pants pocket....unless maybe you wear skin tights pants.

My biggest problem was it being too wide to hold comfortibly for a long time. I added a finger strap.

I hear that Apple aimed for a size of the Phone 6+ that was one hand operable, so that should not be a problem.

This is what pockets on a shirt are for.
Columbia shirts, for example

Funny how apple used to have the add about the size of the 5 screen. They made it seem that going any bigger was not what people wanted. In fact it is exactly what they wanted. They are just a few years behind.

Once you get bigger phone you get accustomed to the size and it is no big deal. My hTC is big and I want bigger. Note 4 most likely.

Steve said that nobody needs a 7" screen. Then came the iPad Mini.
Steve is not happy.

Nothing at all. This was mostly a broad what do y'all do topic. :D

My roommate has a Samsung that's about twice the size of my phone. He said that he can currently use his pocket, but that he couldn't with a case. However, he is a naturalist when it comes to phones.

Love my Tracphone fliphone. $100/yr, fits inconspicuously in my pocket. Downside is I am not stylish as I could be without it hanging off my belt.:)

The Wall Street journal did an article on just this topic earlier this week. They fretted that the 6/6+ Is too big for hipsters to fit in the pockets of their skinny jeans. And we all know how in-tune the WSJ is with hipsters, right?

I hear apple is selling an ap to turn your iPhone 5 into a remote control for your 6/6+.

:)

Seriously, anymore, I buy cargo pants and painter's pants jeans just for ease of phone hauling.

The day I can pull off skinny jeans will be the day I meet aliens...

 What kind of pants do you wear? I carry a Galaxy S4 and it fits fine with a somewhat bulky case. I even tried out my deckhand's Note and could fit it in an Otter box.:dunno:

Never no case.:nono: I still think the simple silicon condoms are the best.

You could always get a murse. Might make a whole new circle of friends if you did that. Don

Correct. When Jobs was around he insisted screen rez needed to be lame and the size no bigger than what fits in a palm. Samsung changed the paradigm in both areas.

I have a Nexus 5 which appears about the same size. It goes in my pocket or sometimes in my flight bag.

I always wear a belly pack. It has useful compartments and easily allows to carry a Nexus 7, which is larger than iPhone 6. Also it misdirects all the silly people who think that my gun is in my belly pack (in actual fact it's not a quick draw pack, but instead it's a slash-resistant pack).

When I fly, I always have the useful things in the pack, like pencils, oximeter, etc. I keep all of its pockets closed in case of sudden turbulence. I had a pencil fly off my kneeboard before.

You can see the pack in my forum avatar.

I have a leather jacket that was before its time, has a sewn in phone pocket. Perfect size for a motorola flip phone. The world thought phones were going the way of the Zoolander joke.

Same way we've been carrying Androids for years....

Shh, the Apple users are not smart enough to carry a large phone. Most of them have small female like hands.

Actually, numerous studies and meta-analyses have shown conclusively that Apple users are...

More intelligent
Better looking
Taller
Higher income
Better educated
Better at sports
Get laid more often
Have better posture
Have better teeth
Are overall healthier
Have increased longevity
And are much more humble (though that's hard when you're so wonderful).

Then again, Android users tend to be marginally better at online gaming, so I guess it balances out.

I've had a good laugh at some of your replies.

If they sold an I-backpack, of course I would by it ! My dear leader told me to! :rolleyes2:

For some of you I'm being sarcastic!

Meh... I have a 5s and like the size, as it's *just* small enough for me to reach anywhere on the screen with my thumb so I can use it with one hand.

I also have an iPad Mini for things that really require a bigger screen, and that's bigger than any phone is.

The Note/iPhone 6+ size seems to be too big to be a good phone and too small to be a good tablet. IMO, Apple should have kept the smaller of the two iPhones roughly the same size as the 5s and offered one or two bigger options.

We'll see what comes out next year. Presumably they'll do their normal thing and just do an internal update for the next iteration, and I'll likely be ordering one of the smaller variety.

I'm curious enough that I'll make the trek to the Apple store to see what the phone and the watch are like at some point, though.

I thought the same thing so decided against the Note for the Galaxy S4. Having tried out my deckhand's for a couple of days, I have changed my mind. The Note 4 will carry reasonably even in my pockets, and the screen real estate makes a difference to aging eyes. I'm thinking about one for my Amsterdam phone.

I missed the details, but there is apparently a new multitouch gesture that slides the screen down in such a way as to make one-handed usage more practical.

Have to wait and see how elegant that solution is, or isn't.

When I'm out and about with just my 5s I often use it for web browsing. For that use case, more screen real estate will be a blessing.

I also think only the 6+ has true image stabilization, so if you want the very best camera, the 6+ has that advantage as well.

For the record, my Galaxy S4 (5" screen) fits fine in my pants (even fairly tight jeans), though I do not use any case or screen protector. It's big, but it's sufficiently thin that it doesn't really bother me. The 4.7" iPhone should be a non-issue 99% of the time... the 5.5" will tight though.

Apple users all have tiny little small female like hands right? You know femme liberal males?
