Hot starts and engine shut downs

This is not actually true anymore, at least on the IO-360 used in Cessna 172s from serial number 9491. They added a loop back to the fuel reservoir specifically to help with hot starts.
Thanks. Good to know.

On my IO-540 (I tend to think its all about what your engine "likes") I power back to 1000 rpm and pull the red knob. If I'm hot starting crack the throttle hit the key as it starts to fire red knob forward. If it doesn't catch within 3 turns of the prop I give it a little fuel pump with red knob closed and away she goes. Never been flooded yet. Sure in the world I'll flood it next time I hot start.

BTW, the Skylane made a change as well. The 182T describes the return line but in the 182S, fuel is a one-way trip from tanks to engine.
