so, that's clean metal and not rust we're seeing on the sides of that chain? Only asking 'cause I'm not sure I can remember when any of my chains were ever that clean!!!

Proof enough? I just took this picture in the garage. I like my chain clean
Chip -- My old bike was shaft. It did have some advantages--but--cleaning my chain is fun! Plus it's hard to beat the performance of a chain.

OK, I stand corrected. What looked like rust in the first photo is actually a seriously clean chain. I should have known better.
