Time Warner Cable installed an upgrade yesterday- we needed a cable box/DVR for the upgrade.

They called the day before & confirmed the appointment
The cable guy was there slightly early
Everything worked (and is still working) after he left.

I can't believe I'm excited because a company did what they said they would do!

It's a sad commentary that this is surprisingly good news.

However, CONGRATS on getting what you requested!

Customer service? Hmmm... I thought that was an outdated philosophy?

The company will hunt that guy down and eliminate him. :D

Honestly--I've never had a problem with either Comcast or Time Warner. They've always provided service that works and they've always showed up for every appointment on time.

I've had good customer service from TWC. However their HD offerings are worthless - very limited. So, I'm going Direct TV when my new house is finished this fall.

I still don't know what I'm going to do for internet service, though. Road Runner has always been good for me.

Depending on if they offer me a deal, I'm dumping DirecTV for Comcast, (I know, I know. I'll get a clothespin for my nose and a Valium prescription...and I swear I'll allow them only 3 stupids before I go back to D*. In the past I've hit that just trying to get pricing.) I have to choose the lesser of three evils. Right now the evil is DirecTV willing to happily charge me nearly $30 a month for exactly 6 HD channels. With Comcast I'll be able to make use of a TiVo.

Ignore this post!!! It was obviously posted by an employee of the cable company. Really,.. shouldn't the spam filter catch this??

I have seen a few gripes posted about DirectTV- my experience with them was the same as that described by Jesse. Rain or snow never stopped it either and we had some heavy rain at times. I did notice when an ANG plane flew between the dish & the satellite- picture would get "blocky" for a second or two. We got that a bit since Atlantic City NJ, Dover DE, and New Castle, DE were all nearby. It wasn't a bother- like my own personal radar that let me know to step outside & see something more interesting than what was on TV.

As with all companies YMMV

I very, very rarely had a weather outage in the city. My house install failed a dozen times, in any rain or snow, and half the time because the dish is installed so it fills with snow on my roof. I got charged $79 for the 5th service call where they didn't fix it. That'll show me.

The Comcast installer just left. Yeah. Me. Comcast. :dunno:

The only pains: When I called to order after saying I wanted new servcie the call director told me they couldn't find my account for my phone number and I needed to fix that on my records. Gee, sorry.

I had an 8-11 time slot. I got a call at like 8:20 that the guy was a mile away and my door bell rang before I put down the phone.

The guy was a local, actaul employee, with a good attitude. I spent most of the time teling him how my stuff worked and told him where to get the surveillance cameras.

It took him until nearly 2 PM to finish - and the house was effectively pre-wired- only because no matter how many times I told the order taker I needed 2 CableCARDs they give them one, so he had to drive to another guy to get one. And the install requires getting the one guy on the other end that knows how to zap the card...X 2 for the two cards, so we waited for him to call.

And when he worked outside the skeeters ate him alive. He wouldn't take my offer of DEET or fogging.

Lessee....three long trips through Tivo guided setup with the downloads and the decompressions and organizings. Two reboots I tried for good measure, and that was after I spent an hour or two doing my homework ahead of time. (OK, a lot of the the time was spent seeing all the stuff that was there watching downloaded podcast videos.)

I have to wait until I set up all of my season passes and such, but it looks like I'll keep this setup. The picture quality is fine. Of course, I'm enjoying real hi-def for the first time but still. I'll have to see how many features CableCARD disables.

The installer dropped a new cable feed outside across my yard. I'll see if a crew really shows up to bury it like he said.

I'm a happy doodz. I'll be canceling DirectV directly. Did I mention I called Comcast after the third call I got from DirecTV in a 20 minute span telling me my bill was past due? Not that they'd call me for anything else. It wasn't past due an hour later. It's not past due now. I know for a fact it won't be late anymore. :P

I thought you had uVerse?

In back yard, yes. As a client, not so much. The last word is I can't get it because of the way I wired up my phone service connection in 1960.

The guy who bought the last new house 1 lot down, 150 feet away, called for phone service, was offered UVerse, but when the installer arrived he said he needed "a port" and gave him a phone number to call to plead his case. He tried for a few hours then called Comcast.

Comcast came out and spent several hours and left him without service.

Then teh AT&T rep rang his bell and asked if wanted UVerse. He was assured that the house was green. He ordered Uverse again.

He may end having both for a short while.

I haven't told him yet that he can't count on either one until he sees the actual programming on his television.
