First time I've heard of a recommendation to fly a glider when someone asks about going around.Sounds like someone needs to get some dual in a glider.

When I was teaching in 150's I would do a drag demo with my students early on. Similar to what we would do in multi engine airplanes to demonstrate the (lack of) performance with gear and flaps added. That usually got the point across that they shouldn't expect any climb performance with full flaps

I have never flown a 150. In. 152 once and trained in a 172 and now fly a 182.
our 182 has 40deg flaps. I land typically land with 20 and occasionally 40. I do a lot do trimming to keep yoke pressure to a minimum. When on the go you really have to trim quick forward to Save myself the fight to keep the nose down as I build speed and start to dump the flaps. It would be real easy under some pressure and panic to add a bunch of power and let the nose come up as a result of trim to land setup and really drop some airspeed. it is worth practicing to get the feel. For me it’s forward pressure on yoke until I get trimmed and see that airspeed I’m looking for on climb

This thread reminded me I hadn't done a "go-around" in a while. So I did some yesterday.
