Well, shoot; it's not working out for me (actually us as three folks were coming with me). I picked up a cold I thought would be gone by now but quite the opposite. 'Fraid I shouldn't be flying tomorrow. I'll be thinking of y'all as I sit with my hot water bottle and thermometer on the couch watching Saturday daytime TV.
Best,
Dave
Poor thing. Well, take care. Homemade chicken noodle soup would be good. We'll miss you.Well, shoot; it's not working out for me (actually us as three folks were coming with me). Did ya get that thing fixed?I had a problem and didn't get to leave after lunch today, but going tomorrow am, returning Sunday after lunch.

We will be a flight of two Citabrias departing Twin Oaks approximately 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. Should be there by 10:30. See ya down there!
Did ya get that thing fixed?
Oh, my.Did you have to bring that up on a public forum? I told him I just needed it to work over the weekend, since I would be out of town and it might see some unexpected action. He said not to worry, they take care of those problems all the time, and gave me a thing that will provide some protection. He said it was a pretty big one, and he would be surprised if it didn't get quite a bit of usage.
At least it won't stop you from coming. They have pretty good soup if worse comes to worse.Long story short, he said he would have to build another crown and repair the glue job around the root canal, but some of that will have to wait a few days. He also said that since it's a molar that I should be careful if we have a big steak on the river.
See you all at 10:30 on Sunday AM at brunch.
PS I sure hope the strip dries out. PA34 is NOT an ideal grass airplane....sigh.
It's beautiful here. Runway is dry. Jim and Mary made it for lunch, and we had a great flight down with our Citabria friends.
Bruce, see you tomorrow.
Sorry to hear it's worse Wayne...hope they can take care of it tomorrow. The tooth chose not to participate in the "it will be all better tomorrow" exercise. Not only it is not all better, it is all un-better and getting moreso by the hour. Monday can't come quick enough.
I guess they forgot to tell me...it was a very busy weekend at Gaston's. Evidently the fishing was good too.Sorry you didn't get the message earlier today, the guy I talked to at the resort (when I cancelled) said he would tell you I had folded the tent. The Texas guys may be all hat-no cattle, eh?
It was a great weekend. I'm sorry that a lot of people couldn't make it that had planned on coming.sounds like fun diana.
Wow. It sounds like Bruce had some wind when he got back home as well. It was shifting and gusting to 30 when we got back to the farm. It was a crosswind...at times. Kept me busy for a bit.wind was gusting to 45 knots all day here.
First Alberta Clipper of the year in Peoria. It was kinda bitter when we got out. 28 F expected tonight.Wow. It sounds like Bruce had some wind when he got back home as well. It was shifting and gusting to 30 when we got back to the farm. It was a crosswind...at times. Kept me busy for a bit.
I'm glad you had time to fly the Citabria before you had to leave. Tom said you flew it well. We'll have that play taken out of the stick before you fly it next time.thanks to Diana for the loan of Tom and 16Y
He really does. And he has had a few students (including me) who have tested that in the past.Tom's got nerves of steel.
We took off about 2:30. Took longer than usual to get home.So what time did you leave, Diana?
It wouldn't have been the best time to try to make for a fun trip for a passenger who might be nervous about bumps. My Citabria friend (Bruce Dallman) who flew his wife to Gaston's for the first time on Saturday would have been glad he missed the winds and bumps too. I think we've convinced her to join us at our fly-ins now. She loved the place.Sort of glad we weren't there today, what with the winds being like you describe...
(Mary's still getting used to the potholes in the air (and so am I).)
Some of our friends are planning to be at Gaston's again in late October. Terry and Denise will be there the weekend of October 24th. They were there last year. I don't know if Terry is flying his CJ-6 or Bonanza down there, or driving. We will likely book a cabin for Saturday night again.
Anyone want to join us? Even for just the day/lunch on Saturday?

So, is that the date? The weekend of the 24th? Lindsay is coming down one weekend to get her wedding dress fitted. I'll have to work around that and we're still pinning that down <g>. Have to wait for the dress folks to let us know.
Restaurant wasn't bad if one had good company (which I did)! Also, after the second bourbon and ginger
Best,
Dave
What second round? Just ordered two to begin <g>
You're talkin to a guy that frequented officer's clubs in various regions of the world <g>
Best,
Dave
Yep.So, is that the date? The weekend of the 24th?
I'll be there if I'm around...what weekend?
The more genteel members of the group only ordered one a time. Come to think of it, some of them didn't order any. I obviously sat at the wrong table.
ROTFLMAO!Bruce, Kim, Phil, Spike, Dave, Jay and I (among others) only want to go if we can have dinner at the restaurant.
and I
It really is nice down there. I love the scenery and the grass strip and the other pilots that are typically there. I don't let issues with the food overshadow or ruin my positive experiences there. As I have said before, I didn't get any bad food, but I understand that some people did. Oh, well, I guess if people don't like it there, they don't have to go there. I supposed I *could* apologize for being a positive and optimistic person, but I ain't gonna. I'm going to enjoy being there no matter what the food is like. It's a great place in spite of that experience. I'll bet it's beautiful in the fall. I'd love to go down then.
Sorry you won't be able to make it.We have other commitments...
A couple more rounds of cocktails and we could have just forgotten to eat.
Jim, that would be great! It looks like some folks from Wichita may try to meet us for lunch, too. And I'm hoping that Joyce can make it over, as well.Hey, Diana--
What time Saturday do you plan on eating? Mary and I would like to fly down, if we may...
