Bro do you even lift
anyone aware of any specials for garmin pilot (on android) right now? 3 days left on my trial. thanks!

Just make a new user id! For some reason I wouldn't feel bad doing that to garmin.

lol. I think it might work off of device id. I think the $150 would be worth TWO years, for sure. It's a little steep for one, but still worth it. not to mention if the subscription fees enable garmin to keep improving the app, then I don't feel bad paying for this one.

If you bought all the paper for a year it would be around $2,200 the last time I checked. The app is a good deal.

I bought an $8 sectional that should last me the next few months, prob until it expires in Jan, plus an updated AFD.

But, the first time I NEED to use garmin pilot it will have paid for itself tenfold.

When would you ever NEED to use Garmin Pilot?

If you get lost, there are several better backups.

Can I run a trial version of the Garmin on my IPhone while Foreflight is also still loaded and licensed?

The ultimate cheap charts combo is a used iPad and fltplan.com app. After a few months it might be cheaper than buying a printer ink and paper...
Also have the app on your phone and you even have a backup.

yeah, I think what I was looking for was something like "hey, you've been a paying customer for long enough, here's a free 3 month trial of the VFR add on or IFR add on". something like that. but, this thread is also 3 years old and I don't think I've seen anything like that.

I just realized this forum was from a long time ago. I was searching for coupon codes for gtn packages and came across this lol.

Would be nice if they just left you at one price and grandfathered you in.
Been with foreflight since than began, keep that price. Sort of like att and the unlimited data plan.

Had Garmin done that for me I never would have swapped to Foreflight. That's a business decision though and I know the aviation industry typically doesn't do things that way. They'd rather get 10 customers at $10 than 100 at $1

If you don't need all the bells and whistles try "FLTPLN GO" app. It's great and does A LOT for free!! And you can sync with online. Best of all their customer support is AMAZING!! I also like Garmin Pilot but they really need to get up to date with their app for Android. Not fair their 8.0 version only offered for Ios (Apple).

eh, I have fltplan go but I think the only thing I use it for is the w&b because like u said it'll sync up from online to my mobile device. maybe I haven't used the other features enough but it's not my favorite.

How do they do that? Is there advertising on it?

I use AWARE app on android. FREE. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles but has all kinds of charts and approach plates.

I'll also throw in for FltPlanGo

Geo-ref charts and plates, all the maps, rubber banding, W&B, proc overlay,

TONS of features for free. The biggest two things you don't get are base maps and synthetic viz. Other than that, it has the other features of the big boys. And it's free.

Yes. Get ForeFlight on an iPad.

Any new reports on this topic?!
Nope. Since I'm a bit of an EFB collector (about a dozen divided roughly evenly between iOS and Android), if Garmin offered a CFI discount I would probably add it to my collection. But it looks like discounts are not part of Garmin's marketing plan.

Best Pilot discount is probably grabbing discounted iTunes cards and paying that way (can you do that or do they make it difficult like ForeFlight does?).

I did this with iTunes gift cards from Costco and it worked like a charm. I think it was 15% off or so.
