GA crash after TO at VNY

Navion. I have the N number and I'm pretty sure that I've seen the plane before, but I don't recognize the owner (who I assume is who perished in the flight).
So sad.
 
Damn. That sucks. Pretty sure I've seen this plane in the CMA area
 
I saw the news broadcast on this yesterday, but it was largely devoid of details. So sad that two souls perished. I am still awaiting details as it seems there is some witnesses who state that the plane came straight down, but am curious what the findings will reveal about that situation (if true) and what caused it.
 
The guy had just taken off and ATC had told him to turn on course followed by "Are you OK?" and then they started the emergency response. We wasn't in the air more than two minutes. I've got my theories, but I'll keep them to myself.
