Found my lost dog on Craigslist

Having the animal chipped is a little extra insurance but I've heard stories that they are not always checked. Partly because of laziness, partly because the readers aren't available. My groomer and my vet both have the readers and I have double checked the chips still work every year.
The collar tags are well worth it. Dogs name and family name and enough current numbers to,hit someone familiar with the animal. Of course, you still have to put the collar on them.

It was only a day, I lost her on Tuesday got her back on Wednesday. I could probably have found her on Tuesday night if had thought of Craigslist but I didn't think of that till Wednesday.

This thing I mentioned about Latinos goes way deeper than this. I've lived in Miami for about 35 years and one thing I've discovered is that Latinos hate when you try to compensate them in any way for doing a favor or for doing something nice.

I hand our Latino friend and his wife each a hundred bucks every Saturday to come and clean and do yardwork and they don't seem to hate taking it. But they're working and not doing a favor. ;)

I think most people whether white, black, brown, or other will decline a reward when saving a life is the moral and good samaritan thing to do and it makes them feel good and everyone's happy.

Yay, good story!

Yes, good reminder - have your chips scanned yearly (annual exam is a good time). I replaced one this week which quit broadcasting. (a household of JRTs, I think another dog bit it)

Yes sure, but this is about the second time she got out in the last 4-5 years so I've gotten kind of lax with that. She's not a runner and she does have a chip in her but you're right, I'm going to get a name tag for her

My dog is chipped. But I also put an additional tag on her with the chip number. So if for some reason the other tag with my contact info is gone, and the chip won't read, they have a means of finding out whomher human is.

Agree; that was my reaction when I read the Latino comment. I think it's a decent person trait, not a cultural trait.

You're probably right about that, but 35 years in Miami has taught me something about Latino culture and it is not the same as North American culture, a derivative to a large extent of Northern European culture. If you google Latino culture, you'll find a number treatises aimed at healthcare professionals and others that deal with this culture that may not be familiar with it that outline some of the differences.
