Line Up and Wait
I just received an email saying I finally have access to Foreflight Web.. Anyone else ?? It's looking pretty cool so far !!
I am not sure how they choose but I submitted my request for an invite a few months ago..
Same here. Submitted the invite request when they initially announced it a few months back. Spoke to Ryan and Oshkosh about it and he said to expect it "soon" since they're rolling it out over the next few weeks.
Has anyone figured out yet how/if you can add a waypoint (navaid/airport/etc) mid-route? When I rubberband the route to include a new point, it just adds the GPS coordinates of that location, not the actual navaid or airport.
Yes you can add it midroute.. with any waypoint.. such as an airport KCEV KLNP KMYR ... just type them in like you would in Foreflight and it looks the same and plots it as it would on your iPad..
I know you can type them. What I'm trying to do is plan a flight (ie, KMWC KAPA) to get a feel for what a straight line looks like. Then, look at what navaids/airways will make the best route for my /A flying taking into account things like fuel stops, sightseeing opportunities, etc. So what I do on the iPad/iPhone is drag the route line from a straight line to include other waypoints along the way. When I'm done, the route is built... without me having to type each waypoint in along the way and reload it. Make sense?
For those of us who work in buildings that don't allow PEDs, this is a very nice thing to be able to do initial route planning and then have it later sync'd to the iphone/ipad.What will it provide that all the other products currently on the market do not have? There are so many places to file and check weather I dont know what could be done differently.
You can't have a PED, but you have computers with unrestricted internet access...?
Does it work only with Safari? Can't have it work with multiple browsers y'know. Too hard to take into account screen resolutions.
I got it too.
There is not enough functionality to actually use it as more than a viewer for flights already planned on the tablet.
I think I'm going to be in the 'about to can skyvector' crowd.

You mean like this ? This would be a long flight !
Yes you can drag and drop a route on the website.. If you stop over a NAVAID or airport it will add it if not it will add the lat/lon just like on the iPad..
Man....... I've been a Foreflight user since version 2.0, have every bell and whistle option from them.... and still didn't get the web invite. Who do you guys have to know?!?!
Remaining patient.... rant over.
This makes sense.
Next question: are most people using this for VFR purposes? When I plan a flight I go to my favorite website and look at the most recently filed between departure drome and arrival drome and that's what I select. No drag and click or anything real fancy for me I guess.
It did it automatically for me when I typed in a route in the box. When I clicked "Save" it appeared in my favorite routes part on the iPhone app.I received my invite this afternoon. Spent a few minutes on it. You're not missing anything. It's pretty vanilla at this point. I couldn't figure out how to "sync" to my mobile device - anyone figure that part out?

Don;t even need to do that. The "recent" list also automatically syncs. It did it automatically for me when I typed in a route in the box. When I clicked "Save" it appeared in my favorite routes part on the iPhone app.

No. On the web beta when you type in a route it will automatically sync to your other devices. If you click save it'll save and sync to your other devices as a favorite route.Isn't that only if you've filed or briefed it?
Finally got my invite! Been playing with it. So far, I really like the fact that it can be a Skyvector replacement. Once they beef up the features, it will be a great go-with for the app. Looking forward to it!
