Probably true. But I've found a climb, cruise and descent value in FF gets me within a few gallons of actual most of the time. I've never had an issue.

What types with FF, though? When you cruise at 8gph and climb at 14, the odds of being close are pretty good. The jet numbers make that a wee bit wider with significantly larger numbers, so the FMS is a touch more thorough. At least the ones I'm familiar with, anyways. No idea for other manufacturers.

Not sure what your saying FF is fully customizable for all fuel burns Taxi, Takeoff, climb, cruise, and decent.

Does it all for that data at various attitudes and interpolate from there?

Really, I'm not sure why I'm asking or care... In most of the ga fleet with no fuel flow indication or totaliser (especially those of us with fixed pitch props), a rough guesstimate and reserve is really good enough!

"Faxing" an electronic logbook? Yeah I know, print out and fax, but the mix of new and semi-obsolete technology struck me funny.

Somehow I can't get too paranoid about showing an ASI my logbook. Am I missing something important?

The only conceivable concern I can see is that sometimes I don't make entries right away so I guess my logbook might not reflect the landings I did yesterday for that passenger flight today. But it that case, I'd personally prefer telling the inspector that, not playing a bunch or word games that are at best half-truths.

I had to get a new reg cert from the FAA. Had to fax them a request, separately mail them TWO DOLLARS, and they faxed a temp and mailed a permanent replacement reg cert.

The faxed temp had a cover sheet which read, "This fax was sent by the FAA's Registration Modernization System." :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

What are you talking about? ForeFlight has never had a separate logbook app. LogTen Pro is the only full-featured standalone logbook app, and it was developed by Coradine Aviation. Totally different company and different people.

You're right...I was thinking of their checklist app. The confusion was all mine. Sorry.
 
Also confirmed: If you want to use iTunes Store Credits, you have to get the new plan which is 1/3 more expensive than the old one.

Basically a money grab for people who don't pay attention.
 
One other thing...you can't export your ForeFlight logbook...so you're pretty much stuck paying them forever.

That right there is reason enough alone for me to stick with MyFlightBook. If they change it in the future I may re-consider.

I agree that not being able to export the logbook is a significant minus.

Keep in mind what we have now is an early version. So I expect to see export of data and improved reporting in the not too distant future.

I don't think we will be stuck paying them forever.

Neither of those is the truth.

I'm simply pointing out a slimy marketing practice.

They add a worthless feature, hike the price by 33%, and make it significantly more difficult to buy the old feature-set.

If you want a half-done logbook for $50, go right ahead, but at least you know what you're getting into.

Scott, the logbook app predates Foreflight. It's misleading to say it's a first iteration. Maybe a first integration. There is an enormous difference there.

If you have a product that you are charging that significant amount of money for ($50/year), it's reasonable to assume that it would have a full basic feature set...and data export is about as basic a feature as they get.

Like I said, marketting said "What can we stick in her to "justify" a 1/3 price hike", so someone threw together a half-baked logbook.
 
I love foreflight, with saying that I have buyers remorse in Foreflight logbook. I feel after loading all the data in it that Mylogbook is a much better product.

I'm not familiar with a pre-existing Foreflight logbook app. Checklist app, yes. But not a logbook app.

ForeFlight is continuously updating the features and functions. 2015 started with version 6.6 and it is ending so far with version 7.5. Each version had significant new features.

I'm a proud former 2.0 user :) My private instructor wouldn't let me use it at all. Was too newfangled for his liking. He was half my age. lol...

The haters can hate. I don't see any deceptive marketing practices here and I do see a very good log book. For me the Auto Logging feature is worth the price of admission. I've been using this since the day it was released and am a very satisfied customer. I don't need to export my logs today and I'm sure that feature will be added very soon.

I'm an airplane owner and that puts me in a subcategory of pilots. But within the ranks of owners, I find there are two kinds. There are owners that count every nickel and there are owners that just say "oh well, flying is expensive." I'm in the second group and therefore $25 or $50 isn't worth worrying about in the grand scheme of things. After all it's only $0.05 AMU's.

Available from other products for $0.

Myflightbook.com does auto-logging for $0. Even integrates with Foreflight flight tracks and does auto-logging from them.
