At the risk of hijacking the thread, how does one go about searching for a place to do spin training?

Any flight school that trains pilots to be CFIs will do spin training, since it’s required for CFI. Just contact the schools in your area and ask if they do it.

I recommend looking for someone who has an aerobatic aircraft. They spin and recover better, because rudder authority is greater. You can also get some upset recovery training, which will further boost your confidence. An hour of flight is plenty.
