Flying alone

When I was renting I was alone 80+ percent of the time.... so I decided I didn't "need" 4 seats and bought the RV.

Haven't been alone in her yet. And am actually looking forward to it!

Doh! How did I miss that?

Well to be fair I do have a Glasair as well. Although I plan for 165 kts on that one. The ride isn't as comfortable and I don't have as much range but I can do a roll every now and then when I get bored.:wink2:

I just posted on FB yesterday about my evening "Cub therapy." My planes are all two seats but I rarely have a passenger. When I do, it is typically my brother who is also a pilot. My wife doesn't care to fly. She gets very easily airsick. My adult daughters will go occasionally.

The RV-4 is much more fun solo anyway. :)

I would say 90% of the time I fly alone. My other half flew with me Christmas day and then we flew this past weekend to Kentucky Lake. Usually I fly late afternoon or early evening. I find it very relaxing.

Sometimes I like company when I fly, but I also like my own quite time. I looked hard at a Cherokee Six and the possibly of trading my Mooney in hopes of making more family ventures together, but in reality and schedules I just don't think that would happen...

After really looking at my mission and how often I fly with passengers I just could not justify the trade...beside, I don't think I could let go of my Mooney bird. I'm pretty attached.:wink2:

Yep...bought the current Fly Baby in summer 1996. In the ~18 months prior to that, with the partnered Stinson, I'd flown 37 Young Eagles.

It's hard to nail down, but there's a sense of "rightness" in flying a single-seat airplane. Everything's there for *you*, not lying fallow waiting for some second person to sit down.

I fly alone 99.98% of the time. Maybe I should get a Mooney M18 Mite! Stick 200hp on the nose and I'm in!!:D

It does 125-130mph on 65hp. How fast you want to go? :)

Hmmmh - I have 97.5 % (probably more :D) of the time a passenger... - my husband... :wink2: I hardly fly alone, only once or twice a year I go up in the air all by myself and then I it's mainly to do traffic patterns and improve my landing skills. But then, we are both pilots and it is nice to share the workload. It may change, now that we have our plane a little closer to home.

And: Whom should I talk to, while flying alone??:redface:

I sing to myself when flying alone. At least I did on my long trip up from Georgia. Have to be careful to not accidentally hit the com button while belting something out...

I fly alone about 1% of the time. Last week I did a transport and flew 2 hours back alone. That was the longest I've actually ever flown alone. I enjoyed it for about 30 mins and then decided to listen to a few podcasts.
