A Lakeland man arrested for shining a laser at a sheriff's office helicopter is now facing federal charges.
Mark Hazlitt, 58, was arrested in November after investigators said he shined a laser at a Polk County Sheriff's Office helicopter. Investigators said he did so because he was "tired of hearing it."

....

On Tuesday, Hazlitt was indicted on federal charges of interfering with the operation of an aircraft.
GOOD!

He had previously been charged with misuse of a laser lighting device, a felony.

The one in MA just got 3 years the news was saying first time someone got time for lasering an aircraft. Of course in practice it is only illegal to laser a police helicopter everything else is fair game.:rolleyes2:

Wow!

I'm tired of hearing my neighbor's barking dogs, but that doesn't mean I'm going to start using them for target practice.

Fixed it for ya.

They never got the guy who lasered my buddy.

Did your buddy have any temporary or permanent damage to his eyesight? That is a frightening thing; I just don't know if it's a logical consequence to getting lasered, or a remote possibility. Either way, it's friggin criminal.

Nah, he was fine. He did get interviewed for the news though, documented in loving detail and living color here.
