Sorry about the music. I chose some default rock from Youtube's free music library. It is a little hair rock, glam music.

Dad flying the first leg from Ocala Florida to New Orleans where we stopped for lunch:

I need KenJr to show me how he sets up his recordings in his plane.
This looks like I filmed it with a potato.

not bad, you know, for a potato camera.

I didn't see the thrust reversers deploy on touchdown.

I like the "traffic" warning at touchdown. That was helpful.

Yeah, it is like having a little Peyton Manning calling audibles in your ear the whole flight.

Catch 22 though because I don't want to get in the habit of tuning them out.
I have seen videos of wrecks and I am thinking "how are they not hearing the Stall horn / gear up warning / etc"

I thing overly verbose planes may make it easier to block that stuff out leading to an issue when the threat is real.

But the question is, will Mrs. 6PC get any flight time during her training?

Congrats on the airplane! Love it.

I am not sure she wants it in this.
She has a lesson Sunday in a 172. I wont have met my hour requirements for the insurance so I can't fly her to her lesson.

We have to drive there. Lame :(

How did it fly from the back seat?
Did any parts fall off?
Why are there so many entertainment screens in the front?
Did the parachute work ok?
Did you roll it?
Was the gas mileage better than my Prius?
How many Cessnas did you shoot down on the way?

:D:D:D

Nice looking ride.

I was quite surprised how much room is back there. More than in my car for sure.

Did any parts fall off?
The first time I landed, I expected I might have knocked a wing loose. Don't pull power over the numbers

Why are there so many entertainment screens in the front?
There is a TV up there but it just runs the weather channel.

Did the parachute work ok?
You have to slow to 133 to try it and "ain't nobody got time fa dat!"

Did you roll it?
Not legally.

Was the gas mileage better than my Prius?
We averaged 14 GPH on the 5 hour trip

How many Cessnas did you shoot down on the way?
We almost rear ended one but ATC kept making excuses for him.
Honestly I felt it was insensitive and not very PC to keep calling that pilot "slow".
In this day and age...

Nice looking ride.
Thanks.

A Cirrus won't but a Mooney will come close to a car.

Consider raleigh to nashville.

540sm driving or 440sm flying. Mooney 201 does 20.5 smpg at 160 knots.

Add 20% for extra distance driving and that's like the plane getting 25mpg. You could probably get close to 30 mpg if you throttled back to 140 knots. That's as good as a 6cyl sedan.

I get about 18+SMPG in my plane at 135-140 knots throttled back to economy setting. I also give about 15-20% shorter trip by going direct. Difference with my plane is I burn autogas most of the time, so on a dollar basis I'm about the same as a Mooney.

That Cirrus sure is fast. Ocala to New Orleans in just over 3 minutes? Nice!

But the question is, will Mrs. 6PC get any flight time during her training?

Heck no! Let the newbies beat up somebody else's plane!

The copilot talks a lot . Also both pilots seem to be flying the plane, are the sticks interconnected, or how does that work?

If you slow down a bit, From M20J POH, @12K with full payload:
145 mph, burning 6.4gph which is 22.66 mpg, not bad, and if you lose a couple of passengers,
you'll be burning 24.46 mpg....
so if a M20J and a Corvette both leave KRDU for KPBI,
the Mooney will burn 26.1 gals, the vette: 26 gals.

Thanks for pointing that out - I missed it.

In general, that is pretty poor form. One pilot OR the other should be manipulating the controls at any one time, with positive transfer in between.

That is the CISP. Insurance requires that he babysit us for a bit.
He was "Gaurding" the controls as he calls it.

I always "guarded" the controls in critical phases of flight.

But "guarding" meant holding my hand very close to the controls, NOT touching them.

Just going by what I was taught when I trained to be a CFI.

I agree.

Nice Cirrus! What is your useful load? Shouldn't the CAPS handle be uncovered during flight? ;)

There is printing on the cover and it is a required placard.

But I think most Cirrus pilots fly with it removed. A simulator episode convinced me it definitely delays deployment.

One solution is to put Velcro next to the handle and stick the cover there.

I like the video.

So many flying videos are too darn long. Because nobody edited them. Yours was short enough to watch, and I enjoyed it.

I was told it should be removed just prior to takeoff. Maybe this is more of a different strokes for different folks thing?? I could definitely see it causing a delay if you had to pull at 500ft. Every second would count.

 Totally agree! Can't wait to ride in this, but I have no interest in flying it for a long time, if ever (ok, at some point I will, but I need to figure out what the heck I'm doing in a 172 before I try anything more complicated. One lesson in the Tampico taught me that!

Is any one scared that 6PC is in a high performance aircraft? Those of us on the ground might need to be concerned. lol

David

I'm concerned for everyone on the ground.
You are all sitting ducks.

Where are you based Bryan? We just brought our new to us SR22 back from Seattle in December. We are at TKI. Congrats by the way... Lots of fun!
