As mentioned earlier, it would require a 2nd regulation to erase the memory when full. By only recording the last 2 hours (or last 30 mins) the CVR keeps the pertinent information saved for an accident investigation and overwrites any other data automatically.Why do CVRs have such a short window? I haven't looked up the regulation but more than two hours would likely be compliant, too, but the regulation sets the standard and that's what they're built to. The regulation used to be 30 minutes and then they were built to 30 minutes.Two hours period? Or a minimum of two hours?
