I recently moved and need to let the FAA know of my new address for me and my airplanes. Should be easy enough right? Search the FAA website and found a form to fill out sign and send in. Done right?

After 6 letters, 3 denials, filling out 8 forms I still have not completed the process of changing my address. A simple change of address sends the FAA into a paper work tisey! :goofy:

The FAA motto "We're not happy until you're not happy". has been fulfilled again.

:mad2::mad2::mad2:

Ugh. I just did the same thing a few days ago. Seemed to work fine, but I haven't heard anything yet. Why would that be denied??

Because Geico is a shady character. Wait until they start doing universal background checks on RV owners. :D

The previous owner of a airplane I bought screwed up the paperwork in about every way possible. I sent in the form, filled it out wrong, too, got an easy to understand letter back, made the change and it went through without a hitch.

I moved at the same time they required me to reregister the aircraft. The website couldn't handle both and required me to submit it via snailmail. There weren't any issues, though.

I've had both problems in registering my aircraft and changing my address. It would be nice if the left hand talked to the right at OK City. My registration was finally approved after 2 attempts but address change wasn't. Their great online change of address wouldn't work and it said to send it in via mail. Did that twice as well before finally getting changed.

Only time I've ever written a nasty letter because for poor service for anything, was to the FAA. I don't know if it's simple negligence, lack of money or just the bureaucracy of the FAA. I know if I operated with the lack of common sense and slow service that the FAA has, I'd be fired long ago.

This is the problem I guess. Their web site still says you can do it one of three ways, but now they only take one way.

I just mailed off a nasty gram also. I will also send a letter to my Senator. They need to know how tax money is wasted by these children and their "make work to stay busy" program.

The can of whoop ass is open!

Seriously, a change of address takes 6 attempts? :mad2:

I agree 110%.

After my background check I'll be lucky to fly RC!

But I still need to let them know where to find me!

Changing address was always easy. The thing that has been a royal pain is to change the aircraft registration records to reflect Margy's married name. We walked up to the FAA tables at Oshkosh where they had both Aircraft and Airman registry folk. We showed her marriage certificate and the Airman just typed something into their computer and fixed her name. We did a similar thing to the Aircraft records but for some reason it never stuck and even after filing copies of the embossed certificate with the bozos is Joklahoma city, it remains to this date in her prior name.

Had that same problem with the State of New Mexico.
Fixed that by making a personal visit to the agency office doing a face-to-face.
Avoided similar with the FAA by visiting FSDO and having THEM do the paperwork.

I called them and they said to go on line and fill out the form. They even sent me a link, but OK City won't accept it. Mine was "denied". Maybe I need to move back to the old house?

It didn't mention why it was denied?

This is the "not so funny" part. They said the name that the aircraft has been registered to is not valid. I'm changing the address, not the owner. It is the same name / owner that it has been for 6 years. :dunno:

Strange. I did an address change back in September and no issues at all. :dunno:
Me as well (July)....only issue I had was the initial frustration that I couldn't do both online. My Airmen address change (online) was almost immediate. My Aircraft change (Mail in) took some time to get processed, but there were no issues.

You know, it could be part of a plot by the FAA to address their concerns with the EAB community....refuse to update their registration addresses and then declare them all in violation!

I haven't had to update any EAB paperwork yet (be at least another month or two before I close on the Piet).

I had a bit of trouble doing it online because my address doesn't pass USPS validation. There are no "street addresses" here (everyone goes to the post office to pick up their mail), and the 911 addresses haven't been correlated with the PO boxes.

It eventually got straigtened out, but with all the problems I was having changing the addresses on everything else at the same time, I forget what the solution was with FAA. I think I mailed it in along with a signed form from the postmaster.

You might be on to something there. Mine is EAB as well. FAA conspiracy. :wink2:

Amazing what happens when you get your senator involved.

After 5 months I was able to get the address changed! Yea! ( A simple change of address!!!) It only took 8 letters, 2 to my congress critters, and NTSB regional director after the first attempt with the FAA Oklahoma morons failed. A call from Senator Johans office and it got through!!!

I won, they lost. Again!

All this for a simply change of address. :mad2:

Seriously sad.
