If I had lost my Velocity, there's no way I would have been smiling. I can't imagine any payout that would recoup the 8 years it took to build.

For sure, but run of the mill Cessna 172 and Piper Cherokee type aircraft bought 2011-2017 time frame would be way ahead, if properly insured, just saying.

Insurance rarely really satisfies. And “acts of God” are often exceptions. My guess is that nobody’s happy.
