Touchdown! Greaser!
I have accepted the task of rigging up a lift, which could raise & lower a person about 30" to/from the cabin floor of two different aircraft which have airstairs.
-no wheelchair, the person can stand & walk slowly.
-there will be two identical lifts; one at base and one at outstation (there are no other destinations for this person).
-it needs to be a battery powered lift; there is not 120v handy. It could be charged when not in use. Doubt a handpump would be accepted.
-it needs to be rolled over asphalt, concrete, some of it not perfectly smooth - up to 50' each use but not with a person aboard - hand-rolling is fine. Some of the wheels likely will need a brake for stability.
I imagine a 3'x3' platform no more than 6" high at its fully lowered height, which has a 3' x 18" walking surface extension welded on, designed to enter the cabin by only about 6".
Handrails all around which are shaped to avoid a/c damage.
I think it should be configured to have the extension rest on the cabin floor.
Person gets aboard, handrail is locked in place. Lift is raised to a few inches above cabin floor.
Wheels are unlocked, platform rolled so that extension enters cabin 6". Wheels locked. Platform lowered to contact cabin floor. Pax enters a/c. Lift removed.
Where to start? Grainger?
