Where is everybody purchasing their eclipse glasses? I've looked online but they only seem to offer them in quantities of 10 or more. I've read that Walmart and Lowes are selling them, but I haven't had any luck at either place. What's the scoop?
Hmm, I'll try there again.I saw them on Amazon a few weeks ago in sets of three
Where is that?Picked them up at B&H Photo.

I was hoping somebody would do the dirty work for me. Thanks!
That's what I was hoping. Maybe it's still a bit early for them to be in stores, I'll give it another week or so. If not I'll just have to order a 24 pack on Amazon. At the time it said they would not be available for purchase until after July 31st. I also read that they will be sold pretty much anywhere once it gets closer... chances are you'll be able to get a pair at your local convenience store.
For cryin' out loud.... just use a welding hood....
My welding hood auto darkens. Many/most? do... I don't think the sun would trigger it.
Hmmm.... good point. I still use my welding hood from 1978 so no problem there.
You're missing out
I read that too. There's only a few reputable sellers that I would buy from on there.NASA says don't be a cheap bastige buying these from Amazon:

Another poster says "Get a #14 lens" -
The bottom line: "So far, experts haven't found any counterfeit glasses that are inadequate or harmful..."Just saw this on the AOPA forums:

B&H is on 34th and 10th Ave. Don't you dare call on a Saturday.
Your assessment is correct, and most don't specify whether they absorb IR or (more importantly) UV as they are designed for visible light. There is probably some "roll off" outside the visible range but I have no idea how steep it is. I also looked at using crossed polarizers and found the same thing, so I'm just using the proper filter since they are cheap enough.Out of idle curiosity, I checked if the ND1000 filter I have would be enough. This is a 10-stop filter. I can't see **** through it. Nope. Need something like 13-stops, and be sure it can filter out IR and UV.
You can't even place an online order from them on a Saturday (last I looked).
Yeah, their online order system shuts down from sunset Fri until sunset Sat. I think it will let you place the order, but it will hold it internally until they reopen for business - I can't remember exactly how they explain how they work that system on their Sabbath.Same goes for Friday evenings I would suspect. That place was always a madhouse on Friday afternoons with all the employees trying to get out before sunset.
