we got 1/4" rain and 6" of lightning - the tornado warnings were down by, and south of Jeanie
sunshine and calm now, back outside to work.

Hi ya'll,
Yes, actually, I was flying w/ a student yesterday - we went up to Midland - interesting weather going into Midland and then we turned around and headed back here - had to stop in Ft Stockton due to the serious Wx... waited it out for 4 hours and got home about 8:30 or so. He learned alot :-) ... like "Time to spare, fly by air" and always bring a book. :yesnod:
I found out we had some baseball sized hail at my house - the sky light in the office was damaged and there was water and plaster on the floor and my dog was missing.... but! I got a call this morning from the house where she ended up - way over a mountain and around a bend and went and got her. So that turned out OK.
There was even a tornado watch down here!
That's OK. I don't have to deal w/ hurricanes anymore - I'd rather just have rain etc. We got an inch of rain here.

Here is some video of the hail storm up in OK City from Sunday.

YIKES

When I lived in San Angelo, TX we got a hail storm that left us with about 5 inches of hail on the ground. The OAT was in the 70's so it melted in a couple of hours but it was fun for those of us without property to be destroyed.

A neighbors car's windshield was broken yesterday....

Glad you're all okay. That suggestion --bring a book-- is a great one I hadn't thought of. I will add "pack a new unread novel" to my X/C packing checklist!! Could make a few hours or days stuck at an airport short of your destination more tolerable for sure!

Yep, I got a used kindle and loaded a new book onto it before I left yesterday because I just had a feeling we'd get stuck somewhere. So, I quite happily settled into the couch and read my "book".
Get this, the FBO folks out here are so West Texas laid back that they said, well, we're gonna go on out so just stay as long as you need to, the keys to the truck are in the seat
I asked if we needed to turn off the lights and lock up for them and they said "no just leave it open" the sheriff likes the lights to be on and well, just in case you get started and have to come back then you'll be able to come back in. See you tomorrow morning or when you're back this way.
That wouldn't happen in DFW I bet.
