My DME unit just died, does one really need DME anymore? I have a GNS 430W.
Some approaches say DME required.
 
There's only two approaches in the entire country that you can't subsitute GPS for. One you're not likely to be ever allowed to fly (it's into NASA's Wallops Island facility), the other is the DME arc approach into KMTN.

With a WAAS GPS you don't have to even worry about DME on
alternates.
 
What DME do you have? If it is a King I will buy it.
I will gladly sell it to you. The actual receiver is in the tail, and there is a remote readout in the panel. It is a KING, I think a KN 63
