Well I was rather disappointed in the promised blizzard until now. It snowed a little last night but it all melted off the sidewalk by noon. Now it's dumping a heavy snow. Radar shows precip from Cheyenne to Colorado Springs and out to Goodland. Maybe we'll get the dump they predicted...and my excuse to lay in beer and steak stocks will be valid...can't risk running out of vital supplies in February...

I'm 5 nm north of KAPA, can't see out the windows. The real blizzard started up about 4:30 pm mst around here. If this keeps up, the dog will be lost in the snow drifts this evening. It is funny watching him squat to poop in deep snow. Should have taken a picture, but he's humiliated enough. No need to post it on his blog.

Snowing lightly all day, now harder. Wondering how hard will be able to get to the airport tomorrow for our flight in the early afternoon.

I know you guys get some drifts out there. If'n ya need a hand, let me know - the 'sploder doesn't look like much but it get around pretty good.

Thanks but don't you live a LONG ways from here? I think the main roads will be plowed since it's not o-dark-30 like it is sometimes, and I can shovel my driveway, but I'm thinking about the subdivision road. They sometimes take a while to plow it, especially on weekends. But sometimes they surprise me... and put that snow they plow in the entrance to my driveway! And maybe they'll cancel the trip. :fcross:

about an hour away...less than the time you've given for IPC...

76 here today. :)

8" or so north of Denver. It's on the way. Could get hung up on Palmer Divide.

You guys probably don't want to know our flowering trees are in bloom as are the Daffies, and the tulip fields showing color.

60 and sunny here today. Sunday is to be 65 and clear.

Actually we needed the snow. It has felt like spring here the past couple weeks. Washed my car by hand, went for hikes...

Actually we needed the snow.

Us too, the north Cascades are 55% of normal snow fall. that is Electric power we need next summer. (We are totally hydropower here.)

Kinda boring here so far. Normal winter storm. I let the kids at the Jiffy Lube in Parker change the oil on the Subaru earlier and they were really excited to have a customer. Ha.

Eight hours ago ...

It snowed another four inches of light fluffy stuff on top of that. Covered the driveway.

Wind was blowing a bit earlier and it made awesome ocean waves in the drifts on the dirt road and the driveway but I forgot to take a photo before it got dark.

Went to check on the drifting ... Another two or three inches drifted up onto the porch that I shoveled off a couple hours ago and nothing piled up against the garage door.

Karen made cream cheese filled banana bread from a Facebook recipe though! Oh man. It's tasty.

Note: she has her Gaston's t-shirt on today. Heh.

Not to mention it will be tinder-dry this summer as well. :frown2:

Glanced out the window. Only a few inches on the picnic table and small snowflakes now. Forecast for KAPA looks like only -SN through the night. Radar looks like the heaviest snow is to the east.

Man, I hope they get a good dumping in the San Juans. I will be hitting the slopes at Wolf Creek next week. Snowfall is way down this year. Come on Pow Pow!

I've parked on that ramp and walked thru that gate. Let's see what it looks like tomorrow when that freezing precip that's forecast rolls thru OK and north TX :D

Checking in from Monument. Shoveled the driveway 6 times this afternoon, each time I finished within 30 minutes you couldn't tell I shoveled.

Have about 14" and counting on the ground right now at the house. Snow has slowed down considerably, but I understand it is going to get crazy again tomorrow morning.

60-70F all weekend here, high clouds now.
Waiting on a chance of FZRA tonight, have already postponed tomorrow's flight.
Sister in Canada is expecting M35 temps tomorrow am. :(

No "crazy" here.

Thinking about trying out the big ass tractor snowblower.

We haven't had a storm big enough in three years to use it and I'm curious how well or badly it works. This is just barely enough snow to find out. Haha.

Problem is, driving down he driveway a couple of times with the dually would be just as effective. Pack it down and wait. And I can still see the tracks from when I drove in last night.

And it'll all start melting Tuesday... Oooh... Mud.... Yay. LOL

Hey Nick... Welcome to Colorado and upslope in the foothills! Heh heh. :) :) :)

Definitely not as much snow as was advertised here. Maybe 6-8 inches max. I shoveled in front of my garage then used the Forester to pack down the snow in my driveway. It had no problem with the depth. The subdivision road isn't plowed but people have driven through it and it shouldn't be a problem either.

I like snow but not today when I'm supposed to go to work later.

Maybe 6-8 inches max.

They're forecasting 2-4 inches here and I'm worried

Then again, I came from the surface of the sun where it snowed about 3-5 times the entire time I lived there (8+ years). The last time it snowed, it was during finals week in high school. We got about 2 inches of the soft stuff and it instantly became mayhem. The freeway had a huge pile-up, the first bus dropped off 4 kids and came back and the rest had to stay the night at the school, they called in snowplows from Big Bear, cars were wiping out and careening off the road... it was awful. I was one of the only students dropped off at home :D

I do braking action tests on the runway when it gets like this but I'm still not comfortable in much of either. Heck, the freezing rain episode last year in OK nearly killed me because I had never seen it before. I tried to get rid of the water on my windshield and it suddenly wasn't going away. And then I had to hold on for the most awesome 40 mile journey in my life.

I drive a toaster so not much in the way of being snowproof unfortunately

Looks like you can go get bread and milk. LOL...

Now that's funny. There was a video like that a couple years ago with some dude in his backyard screaming about like a 1/4 inch of snow. I tried finding it but to no avail.

Although it doesn't help my case that I am actually out of bread and milk and need to make a run on the way home  you win this time.

Heh. I needed milk and coffee yesterday but the news stations were reporting that the idiots who don't know this will all be melting Tuesday had wiped out some stores of bread and milk. So I was willing to forego the milk.

But coffee. Being out of coffee would be completely unacceptable barring a zombie apocalypse. :)

Luckily my GF has the coffee situation handled, some in reserve even.

Just to be sure, I have to floor it and lock the brakes immediately afterwards to ensure that I get home alive? It'll be easier if I imagine it as a 40 mile long braking action test. Making sure to try to drift and slide sideways will earn bonus points

Just shoveled the drive, about 4" remaining though it was melting since the ground is warm after last week's sunshine. While I was shoveling the neighbor's kid came by with a snowblower and cleared the sidewalk.

I considered it not enough snow to fire-up my snowblower...

The coldest preflight I have ever done was in Texas. It was 25 degrees and blowing 30 knots.

I had one of those in Lubbock a couple years ago. Fortunately the FBO building shielded most of the wind.
