9:30 on a Sunday evening, perfect weather.

Just looked on FlightAware. There are three (3) flights in the air and on the way to DFW.

Anchorage.
Narita.

Strange times.

I checked, and it’s as you described.

I then looked at JFK, and I saw that there were only three planes inbound and descending. One of them was a China Southern 787 from Wuhan. I thought that was ironic.

I instruct in the DFW area and during night flights there are more PA28s and C172s in the pattern at DFW than turbofan aircraft these days.

Saw a video the other day on youtube, a GA pilot got low-approaches to the NYC 3 (EWR, LGA, JFK) on one flight, in succession. He commented in his planning that he thought he'd at least ask because he thought it might be doable as United is operating 9 flights a day out of EWR which is their 3rd largest hub and their primary for the east coast and flights to Europe.

I also noticed a TFR a back in March over Chicago Midway. According to the news report I read on it, the Midway tower closed due to staffing cutbacks with COVID and local pilots took that as an opportunity to go out and do touch-n-gos at KMDW.

Now's the time to get your approaches and landings in at Class B airports if that's something of interest to you.

It was entertaining listening to the CTAF at KLAS. Most amusing was the number of "professional" big iron pilots ending their transmissions with "...any traffic in the area please advise..."

Something like half of the 747s in the world that flew yesterday were on their way to or from Anchorage.

I live in Plano, and on a clear night like tonight I would normally see the big planes stair stepping down from the northeast on the Finger Six arrival. All day long, Southwest's canyon blue 737s and whistling Gulfstreams would be flying directly over my backyard heading for Love Field.

Now there's just a whole lot of empty sky, and none of the beautiful birds I love to see are flying over me. It's an unnatural situation, and it needs to return to normal soon.
