Death Valley lake

[...] Just one more question. What ever came out of your inquiry to the FSDO about the camera mounts?

You still remember that thread? :wink2:
Well, I decided to be not too German and to simply not think about it any more. :cool2:
The reason for this is, that during our trip to the US last April, several flight instructors, a FAA examiner and two or three A&Ps saw the wing strut mount. All were interested in it, liked the idea but none of them came up with any concerns (I didn't ask them, though).
I also sent an e-mail to the FAA, but never received a reply.

The wing strut mount, as well as the adhesive mount are rock solid. The base of the GoPro has proven its stability at much higher speeds, I also did some own tests by applying a force manually to them.
--> I feel comfortable using them

OK, Oliver, that simply rocks. Excellent.

And Pete - as for asking the FSDO - "macht nichts," OK? Always better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Besides, nothing permanent done.

Oliver: great video.

And kudos for making the news too.

I was reading several news sources when I see a link on the front page of The Huffington Post about your flight and with your video!

On this cold early February afternoon, a quick release from reality is just the trick to ease the winter blues.
Oliver Reik captured a super cool video of a flight over Death Valley, the Hoover Dam, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The clear blue skies nearly make us forget about the massive snow storms and canceled flights that have hit this week and that even though Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, spring is still weeks away.

Thanks and thanks for the hint regarding the Huffington Post. :D
Now, THAT is cool! Is was already wondering, why my video had so many views. :hairraise:

The other cool thing about this is, that I made it into the news without crashing. :cornut:

Great videos, Oliver! And Deer Valley is even busier than I remember it! Great Job! Isn't it nice having two pilots?

Hi Grant!

Great videos, Oliver! And Deer Valley is even busier than I remember it! Great Job! Isn't it nice having two pilots?

Thanks for the compliment.
Both of us being pilots is not just much more fun and makes deciding of what to do during vacation a lot easier, it is also great that we can share the work load in the cockpit. Particularly, as we neither speak English regularly nor that we are too experienced yet (we both got our pilot's licenses last April, this was our first trip to the US since then).

Cheers,

Oliver
