A couple more from the Osh odyssey. Terrain just northeast of Albuquerque, depicted inside and outside the cockpit; and my friend Tom Wilson (sunglasses) and me. The -9A is surprisingly roomy...even with our combined weight of 450 lb, there's enough width that we weren't touching shoulders. The aircraft handled being just ***slightly*** over max gross very well, but the hot, humid takeoff from Gallup, NM at about 6700' elevation took plenty of runway. On initial throttle-up, you keep checking for proper rpm. It's there, but acceleration was sloooooooww!

Yeah density altitude at Gallup has been around 9500 to 10,000 lately, unless you take off during a cool thunderstorm... or early in the morning. How did you guys like my part of the country..?? Sorry about the FBO...

I can't help but think that high wing you are flying in looks strangely familiar.....

yep. 1st time in a high wing since my 1st .5 discovery flight. visibility is pretty awesome. I should get checked out in it because it's just an extra potential rental plane, but it's still, well, you know.........

Love it....beautiful country! Gallup's easy to spot, really nice runway markings. The fuel truck guy wasn't the friendliest, but pretty efficient.

The runway was just resurfaced and repainted and is really nice now. While it wasn't rough, it sure wasn't smooth.

Wow, they must have thought you were royalty or something to bring out the fuel truck.....:lol::lol: You were lucky, I think the FBO is only open between 1:42pm until 2:01PM.....

One more showing the thicket of Experimentals at OSH. Shot standing on my wing in HBP; HBC far yonder.

Might have to zoom in a little bit. Have I mentioned how much I like living near Concord regional?

Here's a couple more. SoCal's Inland Empire from several weeks ago, with odd monsoonal weather (and a smoke layer from a fire at Lake Elsinore), and last night's sortie to get night-current, taken at about the same spot. There were a couple that were sharper, but I like the blur effect.

The first one looks more like Arizona than California.
