Crunchy or Smooth?

Nah, they're better eaten roasted, and cracking the shells with my bare hands. While waiting on a burger at 5 Guys or a table at Long Horn (better because the food to come is better, and they have cold beer . . . . ).
 
I don't want any food with a name followed by "butter" to be "crunchy". . .
 
I like both but would have to say that I prefer crunchy.
 
There’s no right answer.

But I have found that people who prefer smooth tend to have a somewhat flattened forehead, pronounced eyebrow ridge and beady little eyes a just a bit too close together. Similar overall to those who prefer the lower bunk bed.

Not passing judgment, mind you. Just making an observation.

At least with the high-wing vs low-wing debate there's the advantage of mixing them up to get more planes in the hangar. :thumbsup:

There's no good argument for being bi-polar when it comes to peanut butter. The very name connotes smooth. Leaving chunks in peanut butter is like inserting a kazoo into a Chopin concerto. :no:

In my household, the main use for peanut butter among the adults is to make peanut sauce. This requires natural peanut butter in the smooth texture. Proper natural peanut butter has two ingredients, peanuts and salt. Sometimes the oil separates in the jar and you have to stir it back in, but that's a small price to pay for the flavor of the real thing.

I was looking for natural peanut butter in the grocery store and came back with this stuff:

Notice that faint line below the word "creamy" ? I didn't. This stuff doesn't make good peanut sauce at all. Shame on you Jif, if you're going to produce adulterated peanut butter, put it on the label in a way we busy shoppers can immediately tell what's in the jar.

Peanut sauce recipe:

2/3 cup natural peanut butter, smooth consistency
2/3 cup coconut milk (that's one of the small cans)
1/4 cup dry sherry
2 tablespoons liquid sweetener (honey, maple syrup, agave syrup, etc.)
2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil (that's the dark brown stuff)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, depending on your personal preference.

Add all ingredients to a small saucepan, whisk together over low heat until smooth, remove from heat. Sauce should only be a little warmer than room temperature, if you warm it too much the oil will separate from the rest of the sauce and the consistency and the appearance will suffer. Taste the sauce, it should be peanut forward. If it isn't, add a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter, whisk them into the sauce and taste again. If you accidentally got raggedy a**ed "peanut butter spread" you will have to add the extra peanut butter, and the sauce will probably separate no matter what you do.

We serve this with a stir fry of chicken, onions, and carrots that has soy sauce and dried red pepper flakes.
 
After 18 months living in Alabama, I found myself driving to the Piggly Wiggly with a fresh bag of boiled peanuts in my lap... The culture shock had worn off by then and I was enjoying the local cuisine!

Boiled peanuts are best purchased hot from the large iron cauldron steaming on every hilltop in N. GA & N. AL every fall. Looks like this ==> :stirpot: but with rednecks instead of a smileyface.
