Creative Dog Names -Suggestions? (NA)

Ok you creative guys and gals. A friend of mine is looking for a cute and creative registered name and call name for a new lab puppy. Her husband wants something that says "speed or power". The dog's future is as a field trial dog.

They have friends who've already taken names like Mach One (call sign Mach), Blitzkrieg (call sign Blitz), etc., so they are looking for something more creative. Any ideas? Doesn't have to be aviation or military related, but those seem to be the ones that fit the best. Neither my friend nor her husband is into flying, I just thought you guys might have the most creative suggestions :wink2:
 
If he's going to hang around the airport, don't name him "Clear". ;)
 
Well, my brother used to have a Rottweiler named Brutus. Believe me, his appearance matched his name!
But his personality didn't. He should have been named Pussycat.
 
The bike store that my wife works at has a 'shop' dog named Tarmac. It's actually a type of bike, but it fits with an obscure aviation theme if desired.
 
Ok my $.02 Hephaestus.

That is the Greek god of Fire. A short name would be Hep, pronounced Hap.

Hephaestus had a forge below Mt. Etna and would forge weapons for the gods in it. We just missed the holiday of Volcanalia on the 23rd, which is the day that Hephaestus is celebrated.

The Roman name for [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Hephaestus is Vulcan in case anyone was wondering.

Kamir (as in come here) Combines a name and a command. Think of the savings in words over the life of the dog. We had a cat with this name. It just sort of developed from calling this starving stray kitten to try to give it some food. Turned into the best cat we ever had.
 
Lickety Split. It's what they like to do.
Amphetamine (speed). Call him Amp.
Rush (if they are conversative)
Barrel (Barry for short)

Thor (sounds powerful)
 
Dee Oh Gee. A friend once had a dog named that an amazed visitors that his dog could spell and he'd prove it by yelling "Dee O Gee".

Professional breeders may require that the new owner include their kennel name in the registration. After the kennel name, if he's a black lab, possibly El Diablo Negro? call him "D". Dogs respond well to names with a strong sounding first letter such as B, D, P, K.

Always get the best response from dogs with two syllables, but that's just me.

Our Boxer is named Piper...she flies with us fairly regularly. She is going with us on a 6hr flight on Friday.

A pilot friend of mine has a dog named Piston...that might be fitting for your friend's dog.

Sputnik was faster. So are (were) Enterprise, Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavor. (Well, maybe not Enterprise)

It's funny, but in my experience, most pet dogs will answer to "Dog," and most house cats will at least look in my direction if I address them as "Cat." I guess they picked up somewhere along the line what specie they are by overhearing things like, "Go feed the dog."

Just a few days ago, in fact, a stray dog (with his leash still attached to his collar) was walking unattended along one of the busier streets around here. Not wanting him to be run over by a passing bus, I yelled out, "Hey, Dog, come here!" The dog looked up and trotted over immediately.

I checked his collar and he had a tag with the owner's cell number. Turns out the owner was grocery shopping a few blocks away and hadn't even noticed that the dog was missing. He'd been hitched to the parking meter. Someone probably unhitched him, and he decided to go exploring for a while.

When dealing with dogs, I always talk to them and explain what I'm doing. They seem to understand most of what I say. How much is verbal understanding and how much is pheromonal, I have no idea.

I think some people are just dog people. they definitely read body language and gestures.

dogs and cats seem to like me a lot more than i like them.

Yeah, that's probably true. I like dogs and cats well-enough to pet-sit for them on occasion, but not enough that I actually want to have one of my own. But they certainly seem to love me, especially dogs.

Even mean dogs -- trained attack dogs, even -- seem to like me. I once surprised an attack dog (named DeNiro, to keep with the topic of the thread) when I was running some cables outside. The owner wasn't home and had locked DeNiro up inside, but the owner's brother had stopped by and let him out again.

When I got halfway into the yard, DeNiro noticed me and charged at me. But then he stopped a couple of feet away from me, walked over to me slowly, lightly grasped my heel in his jaw, and looked up at me. When I did nothing, he did it again. Then I realized he was telling me, "Look, we both have jobs to do, but I don't want to hurt you. Just get outta my yard, okay?"

I thanked DeNiro for his understanding, turned around, and walked out of the yard, carrying on a conversation with him. DeNiro heeled all the way. Once I closed the gate behind me, He leaped up on the gate and started barking and growling like a mad dog. He had to make a show for the neighbors, I guess.

What about Zeus? He's certainly the most powerful of the Greek Gods; made the sun and moon come and go, could cause a storm with the shake of his shield.

My late Westie was named Dollar. Lots of dollars to the breeder, the groomer, the vet, etc etc.

I do so miss her.

Just FYI, the dog is not coming from a regular breeder, so there is no requirement that he/she have the kennel name in the registered name.
