Many folks worry about structural corrosion with good cause but that isn't the only place you find it, and it costs as much to cure the problems as if it were a spar.
pictures the before and after of the fuel finger strainers of the 150 project.

just to add, all the aluminum tubing in the fuel system is the same all must be replaced.

Before and after what? Are the second pair new or bead blasted clean?

they were bead blasted here at home

I'm not implying that bead blasting is an unacceptable method of cleaning, I'm just asking. They look good to me. :dunno:

Here are the gas caps, and wing tip lighting

pretty much a normal cleaning method.

So this is a long time ramp queen?
dry storage 1987 to now.
squirrel had a nest in the right wing tip, actually ate a hole thru the skin, ruined the light fixture, the rest is simply time and ?
I don't know if I can save the baggage compartment floor or not. Some Times it is simply easier to replace.

I bet you did a survey of the expensy parts of the a/c before you started changing fuel strainers and light fixtures....to determine if the entire project is ber.

Remember I bought this project for the core engine. any thing else is gravy. But any way, it's a late model 150 market is pretty good at 25-30 if done right.

I buy off a lot of structures work. Never seen alodine that dark, it's usually light golden.
on smooth surfaces that is the color, on rough beaded surface it will show much darker.
how often do you see pure cast aluminum ?

Do you use 1200S? The Boeing 757 SRM states to apply the solution by brush or clean cotton cloth and rub the wet surface until gold color comes into view (approximately 30 seconds).

Yours is gold color alright, nevermind.

I dip, right out of the bead cabinet.
Remember Alodine is a 6% solution of Chromic acid, if you are rubbing you are cleaning the surface to get the color.
are you allowed to etch?

25-30 needs fresh engine and /G and new interior.

Then should be an easy-ish sell. There seems to be a lot of movement in the 150/152 market at the moment.
cheap flying is what seems to sell.

Aluminum oxide, or type A Scotch-Bright.
There's your problem,, use glass bead, 1100 grit. with a portable dry hone.
then spray the 1200 on and keep it wet for 5-10 seconds. that will produce a nice golden color.
many won't etch because of hydrogen embrittlement.

Let me guess, you bead blast different metals with the same medium?
nope, the cessna's are 99% 2024-T3.
But my system is a filtered system that removes any fractured glass that has struck the item being cleaned, once the glass is turned to powder it is removed.
The NAVY uses one booth for all, and they have no problems, So why should there be any problems with mine when 99% of the items being cleaned are 2024- ?
