Good thing to keep it going then. Polyps can be tumor precursors. Their presence is a risk factor. Better things to die of than colon cancer. This will be my fourth. I have had polyps taken out on others.

I see what you did there, lol. This test is really no big deal. My doc told me that the DNA tests are getting or are good enough that the colonoscopy as a screen will become obsolete unless indicated. He said he doesn't like doing negative tests. He thought it would be coming soon, although I'm not sure when that means. I was under the influence of propofol (sp?).
Today was the day. Prep yesterday was a nothing burger. I had something called Suprep or something like that. Two 6oz bottles. You pour one bottle into a cup and add water to make 16oz total, slipped in a couple of Crystal Light Pink Lemonade packets. Then you have to drink 32oz of water in the next hour. You repeat that four hours later.
Actual procedure was great. Got my IV in, wheeled into the room, two syringes and it was nightly night. Woke up with my wife next to me and about 5-10 minutes later I was dressed and headed to Cracker Barrel. Never felt foggy all day. We went out and did some shopping in the afternoon. Felt like I could drive, but didn't. One polyp, see you in five years.

Mmmm, this pizza sure is good. Wanna beer? The prep doesn’t bother me(yet), we’ve all been there before. Everyone here seems to be eating in front of me? I’m ‘on deck’ 0915 tomorrow. That IV can’t come soon enough.
Sucks for you if you have any kind of colorectal cancer. Can take something from being an easily remedied condition to the thing you die of. Ejecting gatorade at high velocity out my six is actually a small price to pay for such surety. The after effects were quite unpleasant for me, though. Still worth it. Cancer is way, way worse.
next may..Have to have another one in about two more years. yay.
Doing a prep Thursday, for Friday procedure.
Got to go! And go! And go! And go! And go! And go!
If you hear that then the anesthesiologist is playing a little too much “some for him, some for me...”If you hear Oh S--T !! you know you didn't prep properly.
Good luck getting your medical back Rich. Let us know how it goes. Hopefully you have a good, Senior AME helping you through the process.Just went through my first colonoscopy since my resection of 12 inches of colon over a year ago last week, again no biggie, no food for 24 hours but clear liquids are ok, BUT nothing colored red
Drink 10oz of Magnesium citrate and then 64oz of fluid with Mirilax
There were no Large explosions major accidents etc or problems that would require reporting.
Yes a little sore from the cheap toilet paper available but still NO BIG Deal
One issue was drinking that much fluid in that short of time made me feel bloated
The next day you have your procedure they put you to sleep and after you've waken from a short nap
then you are off and can grab lunch.
Just FYI in social medicine countries ie. Canada you are awake during the entire process as anesthesia costs the govt. money.
Its no big deal, It just burns me to hear grown people whining about the test and prep.
I only have one regret, that I didn't do it earlier and I wouldn't have lost that over a year of my life time with the colon resection, temp ostomy and related money issues due to no work, medical bills.
Then inactivity complications and a year from my family because I wasn't able to live a normal life during radiation, kemo and surgical recoveries.
Not to mention I'm not the same guy I was 3 years ago and now I've got to jump through hoops to get my medical back.
Now I go to the cancer hospital every 3 months for surveillance tests etc to make sure I'm still clean.
Its possible they could have removed those polyps and life could have just went on with a small inconvenient test that would have only been a day without food and a couple extra trips to the head.

This Dave Barry article says it all... I love the part about the prep inducing Time Travel, where you begin to eliminate food you haven't even eaten yet.

My poor Fiancee' had to do that yesterday and today.. they gave her the Suprep, and she puked it up both times, along with the magnesium citrate they told her to take after she puked up the first dose of suprep
