College Football!

LOL, I hope the Insight Bowl gives out participation ribbons to the 'Clones so they have something to take home besides the hotel towels...:D

Trapper John

LOL

Trophies for Everyone!!

but we did beat Nebraska...:D:D

Problem is, they money you get from the lesser bowls won't even cover their cost of travel.

The Insight Bowl was actually not too bad. It was actually more entertaining and we got better stuff than the Gator Bowl when we were there.

Nebraska's Nadamikong Suh is one of 5 finalists for the Heizman. Now that would be interesting if a true defensive player won that! It's nice to see him get the recongnition, but isn't the Heizman for the best offensive player?

No. Charles Woodson, 1997.

Well then, it certainly would be a nice addition to Suh's trophy case. There are 4 other Heizman candidates that are all deserving. This should make for an interesting presentation and award ceremony.

Ed but Woodson also got some playing time as an extra wideout at Michigan. Shuh would be the first pure defensive player to win a Heisman.

I think any Texas player or fan would define Suh's play as highly offensive

Best,

Dave

Bama throws 'Mount' Cody in at fullback every once in a while. Even put him on the offensive line a few times this season.

Yeah, I saw that...but it still does not make him a full time 2 way player.

Why did Nebraska play Texas for the Big 12; they weren't number 2 in the conference. Dave

When the Big 8 combined with the 4 Texas schools from the Southwest
conference they started having a Big 12 North champ and a Big 12 south
champ who then played off against each other. Seems kind of silly to
me. The two schools in the whole conference with the best record ought
to play one another for the championship. I suspect politics to entice a
merger.

It'll be interesting for sure to see who they select. I personally think
it should go to McCoy. You gotta look at the whole season and I think
he stands out. As awesome as Suh is .. I still think of the Heisman in
terms of the top offensive player.

Except not everybody in the north will play everbody in the sout and vice versa. You will however play everyone in your respective division. The same thing happens in the ACC, SEC, and the MAC - think of it as the AFC and NFC.

Totally agree. It will be interesting to see the voting, but most votes for the Heizman were cast a long time ago.

Suh just picked up the Nagurski Award. He's gonna need a bigger trophy case.

I've ignored the Heisman trophy since they stiffed Gordie Lockbaum. Now HE was a football player.

BCS? Playoffs?? Who frickin' cares? Not me. Do we really need to extend the college football season 4 more weeks? Shouldn't those kids be studying? What a freakin' farce.

We should ban Division 1 college football, spin it off into the AAA of the NFL and be done with the charade.

Seems to me like most Heisman winners go to the NFL and have pretty mediocre and short careers... Woodson's doing great. I think he's my favorite player in the green and gold this year.

I think you're assuming they 1) are in classes they need to study for 2) care enough about their classes to want to study. About the only thing "study" time gets them is an opportunity to do absolutely nothing.

Since Barry Sanders the only two guys to do much of anything in the NFL has been Woodson and Eddie George.

Suh picked up the Lombardi award last night and he is getting 3 more tonight. Hopefully, the Heisman too, but I'm not holding my breath.

Eric Crouch (NU QB, Heizman Winner) did not fair well in the pros at all. The style of QB we had here does not lend itself to the pros. Maybe this is why they are now looking at defensive players a little more closely?

Yeah, and Charlie Ward went and played basketball in the NBA!

Alabama's Mark Ingram Wins The 2009 Heisman!

A well deserved win for a class player and a great football school.

Would McCoy have won if the big kid from Nebraska hadn't personally destroyed UT's offensive line?

Sometimes it's really difficult to chose between excellent folks. I have an idea, why don't we have these fellas play head-to-head to see how they do against one another <g>

Best,

Dave

Was that a problem? We are really sorry about that.

Turner Gill (former NU quarter back) is now the head football coach of the Kansas J-Hawks. Coach Gill is a proven leader, and an outstanding person. Kansas has themselves one hell of a football coach.
