I really hope I am eligible to apply. Since I haven't been able to find a job, my parents are paying for all my flying. I bet they'd really enjoy me flying on someone elses dime.

I actually just bought some new flip flops yesterday. My old ones had flown almost everywhere with me since last May, but it's time to retire them. The bottom of them was worn, so I replaces them with ones that actually have tread.
 
That would be awesome. I've never heard of a company doing that.

What, exactly, is a "pilot intern?" Wouldn't a pilot working for Cessna showing off its airplane need a commercial ticket? Or is the "intern" thing an attempt to get around that?

I always thought the "intern" thing was a way to get out of paying, or paying very much, anyway.

Not that it wouldn't be a good opportunity for the right person.

That was kind of my thought. Sounds like it's just an unpaid ferry/demo pilot. Maybe I'm just jaded...

That must be it, because the "interns" would still be receiving "compensation" (free use of an airplane, hours, fuel), even if they are paid nothing, which would require a CPL.

Probably not what they will be doing, but there is the exception for aircraft salesman.

Which I believe is how they will sell it to the FAA.

250 hours a PP is all you need.

I actually supervise interns at Textron. They pay isn't that bad for entry level people. What we don't pay them are BENEFITS nor do we feel compelled to do anything for them when the term of their internship completes. The amortized cost of an engineering intern versus hiring a fresh out of college guy is about 1/3. I have brought one intern on as a full timer after graduation and passed on another who applied.
 
I was an intern at Bell which is a textron company and they pay very well for an internship i thought. My understanding is that bell won't hire you as an intern if they aren't willing to hire you full time after. Most interns at Bell get full time offers providing they dont really mess up
 
We just hired a new graduate ph.d for $25/hr. As an intern a few years back i used to get $15/hr

there is another program from the state that is designed to bring jobs to small biotech businesses. If you are in-state and in the biotech industry, you pay $5000 a year and the state pays another 30k plus healthcare to get you a ph.d graduate in the sci and tech realm from an NC school. That's 35k a year. The catch is that these folks all have zero work experience. We have interviewed a few.

Education, the next bubble. I made more money mowing lawns and fixing cars. The cessna guys will be lucky to get paid. I'd do that job for free though

That's what I think too. We are talking about aviation, not engineering or biotech. There are lots of people who would do it for free or just expenses.

That was some trick. The airplane must have been doing a tail slide or something. :eek:
