I've been trying to get pics of this plane for a long time. Seemed like it would never work out. Even on this day, blue skies were predicted, but as the sun was getting low and we were running out of time, it was hidden by dark clouds.

And then... I saw downtown Austin lighting up in the background. I saw Bob's propellor start to light up in that perfect golden light! I get so excited when that happens, especially when we're not sure it's going to happen. I'm sure my photo pilot gets tired of me celebrating like I just won the SuperBowl, but oh well!

Bob was having radio issues, so sometimes we lost communication with him. Because of that, we kept it simple. No breakaways, no head-on shots, etc. Hope you still enjoy them!

I have to assume you're screwing with me or you've never flown formation. If you're not looking at me, I will never show the photo and I'll call the shoot off in the middle. I almost had to do this at Oshkosh one year because the pilot kept looking forward.

The 180 is a classic that will never go out of style. Thanks for sharing this beautiful aircraft with us.

You are right of course, but I agree with Stewart that it looks goofy. I prefer the shots where you can't see the pilot staring at you.
 
I’m going to start selling helmets that make it look like the pilot is looking 45 degrees to the right of where his head is pointed. Then everyone can be happy.
 
I love the prices they put on a 180 and a 182. If only those were true today...
