Not possible on a trike, too risky, only very shallow water and for landing.
I've seen several of Palmer's videos of those guys skimming on the water. While it looks fun and cool, my thought is always, what happens if your engine suddenly quits while out over the middle of that beautiful river or lake? I think we know the answer.Careful on those gravel bars, ‘wheel-skiing’ too. Chit happens.

How safe is skiing in a plane? I've seen so many videos of it, but I'd be too terrified to try that in a million years
The ones I've seen doing it have the really big tundra tires. That would certainly help.According to one of my very good friends, once you get stable on the water it’s as solid as being on a paved runway. He said as long as your speed is adequate you can push forward on the stick and you won’t dig in. I always thought it required huge skills and huger ballz, but it’s not as hard as it looks. Too hard for me, though!
