Amazing airplane.
Love this airplane and this is one of the nicest ones builds out there, even used in the magazines for ads by Cubcrafters.

Check out some of Trent Palmer's videos. When him and the "Flying Cowboys" were heading to/from Oshkosh, almost every time they were over water one or two of them in their CubCrafters were caught on video water skiing. Pretty awesome stuff! Gotta love Mike Patey's turbine Draco. That is one awesome plane!

Awesome and very cool but is it really considered skiing? I'd say skimming or even hydroplaning but to me it would take a plane with skis to call it skiing.

Time to put some temporary/trial bush wheels on that orange and white 182...jus keep the tail down/nosewheel up!

Not possible on a trike, too risky, only very shallow water and for landing.

How safe is skiing in a plane? I've seen so many videos of it, but I'd be too terrified to try that in a million years

I've seen several of Palmer's videos of those guys skimming on the water. While it looks fun and cool, my thought is always, what happens if your engine suddenly quits while out over the middle of that beautiful river or lake? I think we know the answer.
Ya get wet?

According to one of my very good friends, once you get stable on the water it’s as solid as being on a paved runway. He said as long as your speed is adequate you can push forward on the stick and you won’t dig in. I always thought it required huge skills and huger ballz, but it’s not as hard as it looks. Too hard for me, though! :)

The ones I've seen doing it have the really big tundra tires. That would certainly help.

Interesting videos, but I would never attempt it.

Speed. Have you ever seen a barefoot waterskier? Bush planes started it as a water assisted short landing roll. It got stretched out from there, until it became its own random useless maneuver. Check out the air show team called The Flying Lions. ;)
