I'm in the Pensacola area for the week with the family. Thought I'd take the kids over to see the Blues practice. For those of you that have done it, any advice? Is it kind of a walk up type deal, or do we need to plan to get there way early?

You can just park at the Naval Aviation Museum and walk back to the ramp about 30 minutes before flight time. They have bleachers set up adjacent to the taxiway, and usually a few docents are there to tell sea stories.

If you really want a unique perspective, make a resrvation to view it from the lighthouse (you had better be in pretty good shape).

They do charge $20. per person, but it is worth it. Enjoy,

Steve

Thanks, NavAir. The lighthouse looks like a blast. But with 3 6-year olds, we'll probably just sit on the bleachers. Would you recommend ear plugs for the little ones? Do you know if they have any available there?

I would say ear plugs and muffs of possible. The military teams are loud, and it may also scare some of them when one of the solo planes surprises you from your six.

Earplugs for all - definitely. They may have them available for purchase in the Museum store, but probably best to pick some up ahead of time at the local Wal Mart or sporting goods store. After the show, make sure you tour the museum. Lots of cool simulators for the kids (and you?). They have a nice cafe for lunch as well.

Ill echo whats been said and say that the museum is great and really worth a day. The lighthouse is also very nice and on a nice day provides a great view of the beach.

Yep, bleachers at the museum is the best bet for viewing. They used to have the bleachers on the flight line right next to the Blues hangar. That was good for walk down / taxi shots but wasn't the best for aerial. Now they're in a much better spot. The 97 team:
