Blocked Profiles

my name is easy enough to find. Don't say anything online you don't want attributed to you and its all good

I never use my real birthday or year. I never disclose that info - nor enough of info that you can back into any other information online about it to hack passwords and important key information.

you know those mothers maiden name and other password recovery data and identity proof sources?

I use the same identifier for all of them - not real secure - unless its an 8 letter number random sequence. They don't 'check' those answers.

If its a web site that only gives you select choices [ like favorite ice cream flavor or pre-selected sports teams] then I don't play/.

Security is important - but - hell - my ID is now readily available given the Experian hack - so whats the point? Freeze your credit on all three reporters and move on.
There is still some advantage in limiting exposure, even post post-Experian, OPM, VA, Target, VA, Yahoo, VA - not every black hat will have access to all hacked data; like body armor, data protection isn't total protection, but it is some protection, against some threats. Concur on the freezes. . .

You can lie.
Mothers Maiden Name: Peanut Butter
Favorite Ice Cream: Kingston-Smythe
First car: Boston Red Sox

Of course, one needs to keep track of these things.

you can always lie - but then you have to remember what it is - and PRE-SELECTED answers make it confusing to lie.

I used to just put the same answer to everything when I was able to fill in the blanks - it was an 8 letter random letter number combo - which I was able to memorize like anything else -
