Aspen acting very strange. Any thoughts?

Maybe it was the dog

Sure. Blame the dog.

Was yours indicating a non zero airspeed on the ground?
I think that is another type of problem not related to this one.
When I had my Aspen incorrectly showing an airspeed on the ground, I would get the red X failure signs on the displays after startup before moving. This would be worse if there was any sort of wind so that startup in positions not directly into the wind could be uneventful. As you probably know, this is a set-up error, and was easily adjusted by my installation shop when, after many months of frustration, I finally brought it back to them.

Check for any electronics or wires or motors in the vicinity of the Aspen RSM. The RSM can be relocated if need be. Typically the RSM is top mounted but possible to be a bottom mount.

I had to have two RSMs relocated due to the previous owner doing a bad install with the RSMs being installed near a blower motor.

Its amazing how sloppy these RSM & GMUs are being installed.

The equipment is only as good as the installation...

Also amazing that any STC approved location is close enough proximity to the cabin to be vulnerable to interference by persons loading and/or operating the airplane.
